In a reading of a new play by Eleanor Burgess
Galilee 34
With talk back with Profession Benjamin Dunning
The healer from Nazareth is dead – and his followers are determined to keep sharing his message. The problem is the Roman Empire wants them out of the picture and they can’t quite agree on exactly what that message is. With wit and intelligence, this new play about Early Christianity has called “witty” “poignant” and “a funny but tragic indictment of the human need to twist religion to serve one’s own agency.” (Theater Mania).

God After Atheism
New atheism promised clarity. By removing God from the world, it offered an account of reality free from faith and superstition. But in doing so, it left us without an explanation of the universe’s origin, objective morality, or our ultimate purpose. In response, many have been drawn back to religions they once rejected – traditions that offered meaning and structure, yet continue to face unresolved problems of evil, hiddenness, and dogma. We are caught between exhausted alternatives. The old stories – of God and atheism – no longer fit the scale and strangeness of the reality we have come to understand. The difficulty lies with the pictures we have inherited: rigid ways of thinking that force a choice between dirt and divinity. But this is a false choice. Recent work in philosophy suggests more expansive ways of understanding God – ways that do not place divinity outside the world, nor reduce existence to something unexplained and meaningless. This lecture series explores one such framework: a new story…

Integrating Tarot and Psychotherapy to Navigate Personal and Collective Upheaval and Grief
We are living in an era marked by climate collapse, political instability, existential anxiety, and epidemic levels of depression and burnout. Standing at the Watchpost: 2026 Black Religion, Spirituality, and Culture Convening
Standing at the Watchpost: Womanist Vision, Interpretation, and Leadership is a one-day scholarly convening bringing together womanist scholars whose work spans social movements, institutional leadership, and biblical and theological interpretation. Grounded in the prophetic posture of Habakkuk 2:1, the conference frames the watchpost as a site of disciplined attentiveness—where vision is sharpened, language is clarified, and ethical courage is sustained. They read movements as theological texts, articulate moral meaning with precision, and lead within institutions whose commitments and practices are often in tension. This conference centers womanist scholarship not merely as critique, but as prophetic leadership that shapes communal discernment and public life. Organized around three interrelated movements—Seeing Prophetically, Speaking…

Religious Trauma Symposium: Interdisciplinary Approaches Towards Healthy Religious Futures
Interdisciplinary Approaches Towards Healthy Religious Futures
Religious trauma is a subject of mounting scholarly and popular attention with direct implications for the challenges of modernity. Yet despite academic and professional interest across fields, there has yet to be an event designed to bring these various circles into direct dialogue with one another.
The Religious Trauma Symposium 2026 will bring together scholars, clinicians, policymakers, artists, and members of the public to critically and compassionately engage with the realities of religious trauma. While conversations about religious trauma are gaining traction in public spaces, academic research and professional practice have yet to fully shape the discourse.
This symposium seeks to create a rigorous, interdisciplinary platform for dialogue, rooted in lived experience and dedicated to advancing both understanding and healing.

Join the HDS Repro Justice Collective in a training to provide care to abortion seekers. This training will help faith leaders feel comfortable providing spiritual care to a congregant/friend/student/member-of-flock that is going through an abortion experience. This training will be suited for folks with any level of knowledge about reproductive care- no question too small! It is also suited for any future profession. Everyone knows someone who has had an abortion, and it is so important to build caregiving models that are spiritually literate.
