Bike Rodeos at Rolling Terrace ES
Pedestrian Safety
The MCDOT Pedestrian Safety team will implement a weekly-long bike rodeo program for 3rd-5th Graders. MCDOT will provide training and loan equipment for school staff to conduct multiple bike rodeos during PE class periods.
The bike rodeos will teach important bike safety tips through fun and engaging hands-on lessons. Participants will first learn about helmet checks and the ABC check and then practice what they have learned on bikes. MCDOT will offer giveaways and share tips for safe walking, biking, and driving.

MCDOT Holds Virtual Public Information Meeting on the Brink Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project

On Wednesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. MCDOT will hold a virtual (online) public information meeting to discuss the proposed Brink Road Bridge (No. M-0064) Over Great Seneca Creek Rehabilitation project in Gaithersburg. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions.
The Brink Road Bridge Rehabilitation project provides for the restoration of the existing bridge, originally constructed in 1936 and reconstructed in 1972, which is in poor condition. MCDOT is working proactively to rehabilitate the bridge before it becomes a safety hazard.
Please register online to attend the meeting. After registering, the Zoom platform will send attendees an email containing the Zoom link and passcode needed to attend the virtual meeting.
At the public meeting, MCDOT will present project details, costs, and the project schedule. MCDOT will also obtain public comments and answer questions. Public input is encouraged and may influence the final design of the project.

The IDD Commission includes 25 members, including individuals from the intellectual and developmental disability community, service providers and service agencies, and the Commission on People with Disabilities, who will be focusing on promoting direct communication among families, support staff, private and public organizations and the public about programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The commission will also provide educational programs, identify current gaps in services and provide advice and recommendations on best practices to the County and the County Executive.

Pedestrian Safety
The MCDOT Pedestrian Safety team will implement a weekly-long bike rodeo program for 3rd-5th Graders. MCDOT will provide training and loan equipment for school staff to conduct multiple bike rodeos during PE class periods.
The bike rodeos will teach important bike safety tips through fun and engaging hands-on lessons. Participants will first learn about helmet checks and the ABC check and then practice what they have learned on bikes. MCDOT will offer giveaways and share tips for safe walking, biking, and driving.
MCDOT supports bike rodeo events to educate elementary school students about general bike safety best practices and transportation safety. If you are interested in hosting a bike rodeo at your location, CLICK HERE.

The Greater Shady Grove Transportation Management District (TMD) is one of six TMDs in Montgomery County. The five others are Silver Spring, Bethesda, Friendship Heights, North Bethesda and White Oak (created 2015). The TMD staff works primarily with employers, employees and residents within the TMD to promote adoption of commuter benefits programs by employers and to inform employees and residents about their commuting options. The TMD staff also works to improve transit service in the area, to increase ridership, and to provide transit-friendly amenities.
Greater Shady Grove is the largest of the County’s six TMDs, spanning more than 6,400 acres. MCDOT is hosting its second Safety Day event to support the Vision Zero mission of eliminating severe traffic crashes. Through community outreach, we hope to curb dangerous road behaviors by encouraging drivers, bicyclists, and walkers to look out for each other and take steps to enhance road safety. We are inviting a variety of transportation and public safety organizations, food and beverage vendors, local education partners, and interactive activity providers to make this day a success!
Safety Day will take place at the MCPS Carver Educational Center located at 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, MD on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 11am-3pm.
This central location is accessible by public transit from the Rockville Metro Station on the Red line, Metro Bus, and RideOn bus, and offers plenty of free parking on site. Free shuttle transportation will also be offered to attendees from various locations across the county.

The Friendship Heights Transportation Management District (TMD) is one of six TMDs in Montgomery County. The others are Silver Spring, Bethesda, North Bethesda, Greater Shady Grove and White Oak (created 2015).
The TMD staff works primarily with employers and employees within the TMD to promote adoption of commuter benefits programs by employers and to inform employees about their commuting options.
The TMD staff also works to improve transit service in the area, to increase ridership, and to provide transit-friendly amenities.
Friendship Heights is one of the Washington region's premier business, retail, and residential locations. Straddling the Montgomery County/District of Columbia boundary, the area has more than two million square feet of office space and over 1.25 million square feet of retail space, with about 200 stores, including many fashion-oriented merchandisers and fine restaurants.
