MCDOT is hosting a series of informal pop-up events along the Veirs Mill Road Flash Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor. The team will share information about the Veirs Mill Road Flash BRT project. BRT will improve transit connectivity between Rockville and Wheaton with faster, more reliable and frequent transit service. The project will include dedicated lanes for buses, queue jumps that allow buses to jump ahead of traffic at intersections, and transit signal priority to help buses move through traffic signals. Help ring in Montgomery County's 250th summer of memories and celebrations at our free fireworks display at Albert Einstein High School.
Parking will only be available on-site for individuals with disabilities. Free parking and shuttle service will be available from Westfield Wheaton (11160 Veirs Mill Road) starting at 6:30 p.m. Vehicles parked at the shopping mall prior to that time may be subject to towing by the property owner. Follow the direction signs for locations of event parking and shuttles.
Live music will begin at 7 p.m. featuring The Nighthawks.
The fireworks displays will begin approximately at 9:15 p.m. The timing of the fireworks may change due to weather conditions. Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome at both events. There will be food vendors at both locations.
These celebrations are family-friendly events. The County prohibits alcoholic beverages and smoking. Pets are also not allowed.
