This April, join Montgomery Parks on Sundays for live music from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Cabin John Regional Park’s Amphitheater (7400 Tuckerman Ln, Bethesda, MD 20817). Each Sunday the event will feature a different local musician or music group.

These events are for all ages. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own snacks, blankets, and lawn chairs. Ella’s Bake Shop will be on-site selling some breakfast items. Invite your friends and family and make it a picnic in the park. Start your week off right by relaxing on the lawn and listening to live music.

MCDOT Pedestrian Safety will implement a weekly-long bike rodeo program for 3rd-5th Graders at Rolling Terrace Elementary School.
MCDOT will provide training and loan equipment for school staff to conduct multiple bike rodeos

Illumination Stations are information tables that provide an opportunity to shine a light on ways for people to lower their utility bills, apply for energy assistance, and receive items to help them keep money in their pockets! Visit the library to get more information about energy programs and more!
You also can bring your old incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs to swap them for new energy efficient LED light bulbs. You can bring us as many lightbulbs as you want but there is a limit to 3 LEDs per person. Please note we only provide standard 60 W equivalent LED bulbs that are 2700K meaning they are warm lightbulbs. If you would like to swap out more bulbs, we encourage you to schedule a Quick Home Energy Checkup with your utility company.

You can bring us as many lightbulbs as you want but there is a limit to 3 LEDs per person. Please note we only provide standard 60 W equivalent LED bulbs that are 2700K meaning they are warm lightbulbs. If you would like to swap out more bulbs, we encourage you to schedule a Quick Home Energy Checkup with your utility company.

The Urban Homesteading Workshop Series at Koiner Farm is underway! Join us on Tuesday, April 30th, 4-6PM, at Koiner Farm for a "Growing Mushrooms" workshop featuring local mushroom cultivators.
The Urban Homesteading Workshop Series builds upon the success of past workshops by making them a regular part of our programming and inviting new outside speakers to share their knowledge. Back by popular demand will be our annual Seed Exchange and Garlic Festival; new topics include Growing Mushrooms, Cooking Seasonally, Container Gardening, Pickling, Canning, Hot Saucing, Ethiopian Cooking Demo and more.

The Tree House Tour de Cookie is The Tree House’s annual non-competitive, family-friendly, fun-filled bike ride. Riders choose among multiple routes to ride, stopping at cookie stands to collect treats along the way. In addition to the ride, we hold a Family Expo, where a host of fun activities are available for our riders and non-riding attendees. The event is designed to raise awareness of the issue of child abuse and the services provided by The Tree House CAC, as well as raise funds for services provided to children and families impacted by abuse. You also can bring your old incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs to swap them for new energy efficient LED light bulbs. You can bring us as many lightbulbs as you want but there is a limit to 3 LEDs per person. Please note we only provide standard 60 W equivalent LED bulbs that are 2700K meaning they are warm lightbulbs. If you would like to swap out more bulbs, we encourage you to schedule a Quick Home Energy Checkup with your utility company.

Illumination Stations are information tables that provide an opportunity to shine a light on ways for people to lower their utility bills, apply for energy assistance, and receive items to help them keep money in their pockets! Visit the library to get more information about energy programs and more!
You also can bring your old incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs to swap them for new energy efficient LED light bulbs. You can bring us as many lightbulbs as you want but there is a limit to 3 LEDs per person. Please note we only provide standard 60 W equivalent LED bulbs that are 2700K meaning they are warm lightbulbs. If you would like to swap out more bulbs, we encourage you to schedule a Quick Home Energy Checkup with your utility company.

Boards, Committees and Commissions
The Montgomery County Commission for Women is both an advisory board to, and a department of, county government. The Commission’s primary focus is to improve women’s lives through:
1. Identifying inequities in laws, policies, practices and procedures and;
2. Providing recommendations that promote remedies.
The Commission is staffed by an Executive Director who works with a 15-member citizen advisory panel. Commissioners are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council to serve three-year terms, without compensation.
Enabling legislation requires that nine commissioners be endorsed by organizations addressing the needs of women, and six must be individuals who apply on their own behalf. Commissioners are asked to contribute four hours per week in service to the Commission, identifying and investigating issues, advocating remedies and providing public education.

The Bethesda Fine Arts Festival will feature 114 booths of fine arts from the nation’s best artists. Attendees will be able to view and purchase ceramics, clothing & fiber arts, hand-crafted furniture, jewelry, paintings, photography, sculptures, and more. The two day festival will feature live entertainment throughout the weekend, and food from Bethesda restaurants. The festival takes place in Woodmont Triangle, just three blocks from the Bethesda Metro station. Entry to the festival site is free, and public parking is available in garages surrounding the event.

Pedestrian Safety
MCDOT is hosting its first Safety Day event to support the Vision Zero mission of eliminating severe traffic crashes. Through community outreach, we hope to curb dangerous road behaviors by encouraging drivers, bicyclists, and walkers to look out for each other and take steps to enhance road safety. We are inviting a variety of transportation and public safety organizations, food and beverage vendors, local education partners, and interactive activity providers to make this day a success!
Safety Day will take place at the MCPS Carver Educational Center located at 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, MD on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 11am-3pm.
This central location is accessible by public transit from the Rockville Metro Station on the Red line, Metro Bus, and RideOn bus, and offers plenty of free parking on site. Free shuttle transportation will also be offered to attendees from various locations across the county.
