Fab Lab Summer Camp: Sewing Studio Creations
at Lake Michigan College
Step into the creative world of textiles and design during this four-day, hands-on sewing camp in the Fab Lab! Campers will explore the fundamentals of sewing while building real skills that bring ideas from concept to creation.
Participants will learn how sewing machines work and gain confidence using them as they dive into reading and customizing patterns, taking accurate body measurements, constructing seams, and making alterations. Along the way, campers will discover how small design changes can turn a simple project into a one-of-a-kind creation.
This is a project-driven camp, offering a wide variety of sewing projects to choose from—allowing each camper to work at their own pace while mastering new techniques. Throughout the camp, participants will be introduced to Fab Lab equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, and sewing machines. While instructors handle the more technical aspects, campers will learn how these machines work and how they assist in the creative process—making this the perfect introduction to maker technology for younger learners.
This camp is similar to our Fab Lab Bootcamp, but thoughtfully adapted for a younger audience with hands-on guidance and age-appropriate activities. With 12 total hours of open creation time, campers can…

Fab Lab Summer Camp: Build a Clock Circuit
at Lake Michigan College
Curious how electronics really work? In this beginner-friendly Fab Lab summer camp, students will dive into the fundamentals of digital electronics by building a working clock circuit from the ground up—no soldering required!
Over the course of the camp, participants will learn how to safely use a breadboard to assemble electronic circuits using TTL logic chips, resistors, LEDs, and timing components. Campers will explore how timing circuits create steady pulses and how those pulses drive digital systems—forming the foundation of clocks used in computers, games, and everyday devices.
With step-by-step guidance from Fab Lab instructors, students will:
Learn how a breadboard works and how to read simple circuit diagrams
Understand basic electronic components and their roles
Build timing circuits that generate regular clock pulses
Use TTL chips to control and shape digital signal…
Room: Fab Lab. Cost: 140.00. Event Type: Fab Lab.
