Shadows of the 60s: A Holiday Tribute to Motown

Shadows of the 60s pays tribute to the tremendous legacy of Motown’s Super Groups, a salute to the legendary stars of Motown such as The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Mary Wells, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and The Four Tops. This special and interactive production features all the big Motown hits but also the well-known Motown holiday tunes which makes for a fun and exciting experience for the whole family. Flint Under the Stars is a Music Around Town Production Jeremiah Towner and Highest Praise Gospel Choir   Lateena Martin Highest Praise Gospel Choir, founded in 2008, reaches the hearts of others through gospel music. The mission of Highest Praise is to seek, learn, and live the word of God so that others may inherit the blessings of God and challenge themselves to know Jesus. Lateena Martin is a classically trained, incredibly versatile professional vocalist of the highest caliber. She earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Vocal Music Performance from Michigan State University and has been cast in numerous roles with the MSU Opera Theatre, performed at the Detroit International Jazz Festival and most recently at a private Black History event at Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s home. Flint Under the Stars: Waylon Hanel

Flint Under the Stars is a Music Around Town Production Twenty-one-year-old Waylon Hanel is a self-taught musician and singer characterized by his textured vocals and endearing ability to captivate audiences. The Michigan native has quickly become recognized for his down-to-earth style, bold delivery and vivid storytelling. Named after country music legend Waylon Jennings (one of his biggest musical influences), Hanel has worked to hone his skills in developing a vintage signature style of his own.   His music and recordings are a testament to his unique, artistic individuality and powerful delivery well beyond his years. Waylon says, “In my humble opinion, country music today has lost its way. Hiplet™ fuses classical pointe technique with African, Latin, Hip-Hop and urban dance styles that are rooted in communities of color. It was specifically designed to make ballet accessible to all, by mixing it with current popular songs that will be familiar to audiences who don’t normally attend ballet performances. Performances may incorporate the rhythms of African drums with Tchaikovsky, arabesques and beat-boxing or even Tango en pointe - all while showcasing Hiplet’s trademark sass, hip movements, and struts against popular music audiences will recognize from Black Violin to Beyonce.
