Parks & Recreation Many Buncombe County Parks were impacted by Hurricane Helene.  While we are working diligently reopen parks as quickly as we can, some parks continue to remain closed. Please see the list below for which parks are open and which parks continue to be closed for safety reasons. OPEN Parks:  Lake Julian Park (please note, some disc golf holes remain closed), Hominy Valley Park, Collier Cove Nature Preserve, North Buncombe Fields, Cane Creek Playground, Buncombe County Sports Park, Corcoran Paige River Park, Bent Creek River Park, Ledges Whitewater Park, and Hominy Creek River Park.  If people choose to recreate on the river, we strongly encourage them to be aware of changes on streambanks and in the riverbed and the potential for unknown debris from Helene. Sewers, knitters, and menders are welcome to join us.We will be working on projects that provide comfort items to anyone struggling.
