Andrea Clark Historical Photo Exhibit Reception

The exhibit will be shown in Flowstate Community Arts Space at the East Asheville Public Library throughout the month of October 2022. The reception is free and refreshments will be provided. All are welcome. ABOUT THE EXHIBIT Andrea Clark came to Asheville in the 1960s to live on Valley Street with her father James Howard Clark, son of locally renowned brick mason and contractor James Vester Miller. She began taking photographs of the segregated neighborhood known as East End. The East End had been a vibrant Black community since the 1880s, but by the late 1970s, urban renewal had razed much of it and families were forced to move to other neighborhoods. Andrea Clark's photos capture the intimacy of a close-knit community and put a face to the what was lost when that community was uprooted. Location: East Asheville Library - 3 Avon Rd. - Asheville. Phone: (828) 250-4738. Email: eastasheville.library@buncombecounty.org. Event Type: Arts & Crafts. Exhibit. Age Group: Adult. Family - (children of all ages). Library: East Asheville.
