Community Carving Night

Community Carving Night  Third Fridays of the Month  Richard Carter & Carolyn Anderson • 4-6 p.m. • Free!     Every third Friday of the month, Olive's Porch hosts a community carving night. Learn how to carve your favorite domesticated and woodland creatures in the style of the Brasstown Carvers. This event is provided free-of-charge to the public through grant-funding so tools and materials are provided. Ages 10+ are invited to participate. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Murphy Art Walk First Fridays of the Month 5-8 p.m. • Free Stop by Olive’s Porch during Murphy Art Walk on the first Friday of each month May–December. Throughout downtown Murphy, there will be arts, crafts, music, performances, art demonstrations, and interactive experiences for the entire family. Downtown merchants are open until 8 p.m. Murphy Artwalk is produced by the Valley River Arts Guild. Community Workshop Days

Join us on May 9 for creativity and connection during our Community Workshop Days! These events are organized by Olive's Porch using the John C. Campbell Folk School main campus.  Meant to provide access to specialized studios and equipment for local crafters and curious creatives alike. To ensure accessibility, we’ve implemented a sliding fee scale, making this opportunity available to everyone in our local community. Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be 4 featured workshops. Classes offererings include: Paper Marbling & More with Instructor Dea Sasso  Jewelry & Metalsmithing: Bangles and Cuffs with Instructor Kristen Wilder Confident Quilting: Heart Applique Pattern with Instructor Andi Bedsworth & Ann Tilley Embellished Baskets for Beginners & Beyond with Instructor Peggy Adelman    Participants can enjoy a 6-hour studio experience to explore their craft, learn new techniques, or simply connect with others who share their passion.
