Join award-winning artist and performer Amy Grace Laura for Little Landscapes, a sensory and intimate theatre performance for young children (aged 4-6) and their grown-ups. Rooted in the textures and patterns of the natural world, the work invites audiences into a quiet, playful environment where tiny worlds unfurl and imagination meets memory. Wellington City Libraries will be running an activity base as part of the Kids Explorer Days on Wednesdays during Gardens Magic. Perfect for curious minds and young adventurers, these days are packed with fun activities to learn about the plants and pollinators of the gardens.
Join us to make your own newspaper seedling pot and choose a heritage bean to grow in your garden at home from our Kākano Seed Library.
We’ll be on the Quad Lawn by the Soundshell and make sure you also venture uphill to the Discovery Garden to find other activities run by the Wellington Botanic Garden Ki Paekākā team.

Join a free art and ecology workshop with local artist Gabby O’Connor and become part of Rau Whārangi an exciting community exhibition.
The workshop will explore the native plants of Te Whanganui-a-Tara drawing on Gabby’s research with mana whenua taiao experts, ecologists and kaimahi at Ōtari Native Botanic Garden. Participants will use images of native leaves to make pictures and patterns on illuminated lightboxes. The artworks will be photographed and included in the first exhibition at Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui, our redeveloped central library when the building reopens in March 2026. Workshops are suitable for all ages. Children under 14 must be accompanied by caregivers. , All materials provided.
