Open to all cardiac patients and their families, Chester County Hospital’s cardiac support group includes presentations by health care professionals, followed by networking and discussion on issues of personal interest to those with heart disease.
Led by a former cardiac patient, and facilitated by heart and vascular nurse navigators, the support group has been available to the community for over 15 years.
New topics are presented each month and include discussions on healthy eating, stress reduction, heart rhythm, heart failure, fitness, and others.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicidal crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
QPR is a nationally recognized suicide prevention training researched and developed by Paul Quinnett, PhD, a clinical psychologist and founder of the QPRInstitute, (www.qprinstitute.com). The program was created for every-day citizens, and requires no clinical training or education.
Upon completion of this class, participants are certified as Gatekeepers. These individuals may be parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, police officers, caseworkers, fire fighters, or most anyone in a position to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide. This 90 minute class is designed for women who have already attended the Prenatal Breastfeeding class and want more information on pumping breast milk and returning to work. Clients may attend the class prenatally (support person welcome) or in the first month postpartum (infants welcome).
Topics covered include: different types of breast pumps, insurance coverage for pumps, when to start pumping, milk storage guidelines, transitioning to a bottle, establishing a pumping schedule, and women's right to breastfeed in public and express breast milk while at work. Information on community resources for the support of continued breastfeeding will be given as well.

Facing a knee or hip replacement can be a daunting task that many would like to put off, sometimes indefinitely. But we have found that the more our patients know about the preparation for surgery, hospitalization and recovery, the more comfortable they are about the procedure. And their outcomes are usually better, too. Therefore, we assembled a team of experts who have thoughtfully created services, educational materials and special amenities to make the joint replacement procedure as smooth as possible. But we have found that the more our patients know about the preparation for surgery, hospitalization and recovery, the more comfortable they are about the procedure. And their outcomes are usually better, too. Therefore, we assembled a team of experts who have thoughtfully created services, educational materials and special amenities to make the joint replacement procedure as smooth as possible. But we have found that the more our patients know about the preparation for surgery, hospitalization and recovery, the more comfortable they are about the procedure. And their outcomes are usually better, too. Therefore, we assembled a team of experts who have thoughtfully created services, educational materials and special amenities to make the joint replacement procedure as smooth as possible. Often our patients' only regret is that they didn't have the procedure sooner.

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicidal crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
QPR is a nationally recognized suicide prevention training researched and developed by Paul Quinnett, PhD, a clinical psychologist and founder of the QPRInstitute, (www.qprinstitute.com). The program was created for every-day citizens, and requires no clinical training or education.
Upon completion of this class, participants are certified as Gatekeepers. These individuals may be parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, police officers, caseworkers, fire fighters, or most anyone in a position to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide. For expecting mothers and their support person. This class will explore the mind-body connection, discuss beliefs about birth, and address fears and concerns surrounding birth and/or parenting in order to help prepare parents for the birth they desire. We will practice breathing and relaxation techniques which both lead to optimal relaxation during contractions and reduce the fear-tension-pain cycle. The class will also review comfort techniques and practice positions that promote comfort and help labor to progress. The class is interactive and hands-on, so clients will need to dress comfortably and bring a pillow, birth/exercise ball (if they have one), and bottle of water to class.

This 90 minute class is designed for women who have already attended the Prenatal Breastfeeding class and want more information on pumping breast milk and returning to work. Clients may attend the class prenatally (support person welcome) or in the first month postpartum (infants welcome).
Topics covered include: different types of breast pumps, insurance coverage for pumps, when to start pumping, milk storage guidelines, transitioning to a bottle, establishing a pumping schedule, and women's right to breastfeed in public and express breast milk while at work. Information on community resources for the support of continued breastfeeding will be given as well.
Prenatal Breastfeeding Class is not a firm prerequisite - it is just encouraged.

This one session class is offered for couples who have previously experienced the birth process and who would like a review tailored to their individual needs. This small group class includes a review of the stages of labor, role of the coach, breathing and relaxation techniques, medication options, and sibling adjustment.
A virtual tour of the maternity unit is included with this class.

Facing a knee or hip replacement can be a daunting task that many would like to put off, sometimes indefinitely. But we have found that the more our patients know about the preparation for surgery, hospitalization and recovery, the more comfortable they are about the procedure. And their outcomes are usually better, too. Therefore, we assembled a team of experts who have thoughtfully created services, educational materials and special amenities to make the joint replacement procedure as smooth as possible. Often our patients' only regret is that they didn't have the procedure sooner.

This is a 2 session class. Class 1 covers pediatrician information and infant care techniques such as bathing, diapering, dressing and soothing. Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on practices with dolls. Class 2 focuses on infant safety, safe sleep, car seats, and infant CPR overview.
We also encourage "Grandparents" to register for this class with the expectant parent so they can learn the many changes regarding childcare that have taken place over the years.
