James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Bryant Park Picnic Performance: New York City Opera
New York City Opera returns in August with a performance by three-time Grammy Award-winning soprano Latonia Moore, honoring the timeless music of “The First Lady of Song”.
One of the greatest international sopranos today, Latonia Moore has sung at many of the world’s most important opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera Covent Garden, Staatsoper Berlin, and the Arena di Verona. She has pioneered performances of new operas highlighting untold African American stories and is outspoken on racial inequality and inclusivity in the arts.
In 2023, Ms. Moore opened the Metropolitan Opera as Sister Rose in Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, and reprised her role there as Billie in Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones, the first opera by a Black composer to ever be performed at the Metropolitan Opera. In the 2021/22 season, she sang Emelda Griffiths in the New York premiere of Blanchard’s Champion at the Metropolitan Opera.

Speakeasy, Die Softly: Immersive Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at Carmine's
The Dinner Theater Show Everyone’s Dying To Attend… At Carmine’s in Times Square!
Speakeasy, Die Softly is the most elaborate comedic immersive murder mystery ever performed by The Murder Mystery Company. During this killer show, guests will enjoy a three-course, family-style Italian feast in the newly renovated Sinatra Room at the legendary Carmine’s in Times Square.
The year is 1927, a time of flappers, mobsters, bootlegging, and countless seedy speakeasies. Come on into Lou Zar’s and shimmy to the live music of the club’s famous songstress, Lucy Morals, and her accompanist, Keys Yacar, or, if you prefer, play some casino games and win big money you can blow on “soda pop.” Unfortunately, the fun can’t last all night– the feds have been sniffing around! We need your help to flip the speakeasy into a “legitimate Italian restaurant” before the police raid the place. However, even amidst all these games, dames, and dons, someone had murder on their mind! You and your table team must help the detective solve…

On the Watchlist with Jay Servedio: A Live Late Night Comedy Show
On The Watchlist with Jay Servedio is a brand-new live late-night comedy series that blends biting satire with investigative curiosity. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART PRESENTS Rob Tregenza’s FAST
The Museum of Modern Art announces a film series, Rob Tregenza's FAST, from August 12–18, 2026.
Rob Tregenza has worked at the leading edge of American independent cinema since his 1988 debut Talking to Strangers, a film built entirely from extended single-take sequences shot in nine locations across the city of Baltimore. Tregenza's sixth feature returns to the American South—shot on location in Lexington and Richmond, Virginia—after his Norwegian excursions in Gavagai and The Fishing Place. For Sterling (Madison Pankey), a sort of present day Alice, the gra…
