The Museum of Modern Art Presents: Universal Westerns

The Museum of Modern Art announces a film series, Universal Westerns, from June 5–July 3, 2026. When Carl Laemmle opened Universal City in March 1915, the first standing set he built was the Western street that survives surprisingly intact today. The site itself—a converted ranch in the San Fernando Valley, ringed by hills and scrub—was purpose-built for outdoor production, and the Western was its native genre. Within two years the young John (then Jack) Ford was directing Harry Carey in the first of their 25 collaborations, beginning with Straight Shooting (1917). These early films laid out the genre's lasting structure: the collection of stock characters, settings, and themes that would inspire endless variations. Ford left for Fox in 1920, but the B-Western factory he left behind sustained a steady output through the 1920s and '30s, keeping Saturday matinees around the world supplied with cowboy stars like Hoot Gibson, Tim McCoy, and Buck Jones. Brooklyn Conservatory Chorale Presents: Songs of Faith and Devotion Through the Ages

One of the emerging trends in today’s post-pandemic world has been a revival of interest in faith and spiritual guidance, with many religious organizations seeing a rise in new converts particularly among members of the Millennial and Gen Z generations. The Chorale dedicates our spring concert to a celebration of one of choral music’s earliest and most natural functions: the expression of faith and religious devotion through the human voice. We will zoom through history starting with liturgical music from the Renaissance, and then fast forward to the 19th and 20th centuries with some decidedly modern, multicultural and interfaith responses to sacred texts. Program highlights include Palestrina’s Stabat Mater, Ginastera’s The Lamentations of Jeremiah, Holst’s Hymns from the Rig-Veda, and a selection of African and African-American spirituals. Tickets: $20 General Admission, $15 Students and Seniors. Category: Theater / Concerts. Fundraisers. Art / Photography / Crafts. Contact Name: Linnea Mumma. Contact Phone: 9736090413. Micromobility Safety Solution Summit

As e-bikes and e-scooters become increasingly common on Long Island streets, concerns over safety, enforcement, and rider awareness are also growing. To address those concerns, the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety, Walk Safe Long Island, and Catholic Health will host the 4th Annual Walk Bike Long Island Summit on June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Catholic Health Medical Building, 245 Old Country Road in Melville. The summit will focus on the growing impact of micromobility devices — including e-bikes and e-scooters — and the legal, medical, and public safety challenges surrounding their use. Organizers say the issue has become increasingly urgent as pediatric trauma admissions related to e-bikes and e-scooters surged by more than 900% at a local children’s hospital. Officials say the sharp increase in severe injuries is largely driven by riders under 16 years old, many of whom are riding without helmets and violating New York State micromobility laws. Speakeasy, Die Softly: Immersive Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at Carmine's

The Dinner Theater Show Everyone’s Dying To Attend… At Carmine’s in Times Square! We need your help to flip the speakeasy into a “legitimate Italian restaurant” before the police raid the place. However, even amidst all these games, dames, and dons, someone had murder on their mind! You and your table team must help the detective solve… Category: Food and Beverage / Farmer's Market. The Museum of Modern Art Presents - American Folk Art: Revisiting the Collection of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller

The Museum of Modern Art announces an exhibition, American Folk Art: Revisiting the Collection of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, from June 13–August 9, 2026, one of many programs MoMA has planned in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The American folk art collected by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller—one of the three founders of MoMA, with Lillie P. Bliss and Mary Quinn Sullivan—was integral to the Museum's early history, when folk art was positioned as an important antecedent to modernism. Works from Rockefeller's collection were shown in the 1932 exhibition American Folk Art: The Art of the Common Man in America, 1750–1900, and several examples entered the Museum's holdings in 1939 as a gift in celebration of MoMA's 10th anniversary. Following the Museum's 2024 presentation of Lillie P. Bliss: Birth of the Modern, this exhibition will showcase some 50 objects from Rockefeller's collection (now held by the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, one of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg), including c… Category: Art / Photography / Crafts. The Museum of Modern Art Presents - Wish Quilt: An Interactive Activity

The Museum of Modern Art announces Wish Quilt: An Interactive Activity, from June 13–August 9, 2026; it is one of many programs MoMA has planned in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Inspired by The Quilting Party (1850), a work on view in American Folk Art: Revisiting the Collection of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, which runs concurrently, this program will invite visitors to contribute to the collective production of a wish quilt through drop-in workshops held during the Museum's public hours. Participants in the workshops will create an eight-by-eight-inch design, using an array of precut shapes in a variety of materials and a ready-to-hang sticky board. The squares will be installed on the walls of the Donald and Catherine Marron Family Atrium to form a giant collaborative artwork representing the community of individuals who have come together at the Museum. Into the Woods

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
