Tour: Native New York–From the Bronx to Buffalo
Reflect on 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence with a special curator-led tour of the ongoing exhibition Native New York at the National Museum of the American Indian. The Revolutionary War (1775–1783) tested the bonds of the Haudenosaunee (Mohawk, Oneida, Tuscarora, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca nations) Confederacy, an alliance of six nations that controlled most of the territory now known as New York State. Neighboring nations were also drawn into conflict, and all were forced to choose sides or try to remain neutral. Learn more about Indigenous history on both frontiers of the war in relation to the Mohican, Oneida, and Cayuga communities and in the war’s aftermath at Buffalo Creek. Free, Friday, July 17, 11 AM and 1 PM.

Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage Presents De La Soul with Pete Rock
Celebrate the enduring legacy of hip-hop at Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage as legendary trio De La Soul headlines a free evening in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park. Presented in association with Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and Mass Appeal, the performance honors one of hip-hop's most influential groups, whose groundbreaking debut 3 Feet High and Rising helped redefine the genre with inventive lyricism, eclectic samples, and a fresh creative vision. More than three decades later, De La Soul continues to evolve with new music from its 2025 release, Cabin in the Sky.
Joining the evening is Bronx hip-hop pioneer Pete Rock, whose signature jazz-infused production has shaped classic recordings by artists including CL Smooth, Nas, Rakim, and Common. The night also features a special DJ set from actor, comedian, and musician Hannibal Buress, bringing together generations of influential voices for a celebration of hip-hop's past, present, and future.

Speakeasy, Die Softly: Immersive Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at Carmine's
The Dinner Theater Show Everyone’s Dying To Attend… At Carmine’s in Times Square!
Speakeasy, Die Softly is the most elaborate comedic immersive murder mystery ever performed by The Murder Mystery Company. During this killer show, guests will enjoy a three-course, family-style Italian feast in the newly renovated Sinatra Room at the legendary Carmine’s in Times Square.
The year is 1927, a time of flappers, mobsters, bootlegging, and countless seedy speakeasies. Come on into Lou Zar’s and shimmy to the live music of the club’s famous songstress, Lucy Morals, and her accompanist, Keys Yacar, or, if you prefer, play some casino games and win big money you can blow on “soda pop.” Unfortunately, the fun can’t last all night– the feds have been sniffing around! We need your help to flip the speakeasy into a “legitimate Italian restaurant” before the police raid the place. However, even amidst all these games, dames, and dons, someone had murder on their mind! You and your table team must help the detective solve…

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Join Morven, the home of Signer Richard Stockton, for our public program series Generation Declaration shedding light on little known or underrepresented aspects of America’s founding document.
On July 19, Morven welcomes historian and leading expert on the Declaration of Independence Dr. Emily Sneff for “When the Declaration of Independence Was News.” The program focuses on the nation’s founding document at the moment of its creation in 1776, before anyone knew what the legacy of the Declaration would be or if the United States would win the war against Great Britain. It explores how the Declaration was communicated to people in the new nation and around the Atlantic world and reveals the stories of the many people involved in the process of declaring independence, from printers to soldiers to diplomats to translators.

Into the Woods
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

BOOK RELEASE PARTY FOR SEAN KENNERLY’S MEMOIR OF A HYENA! WED JULY 22 at P.I.T.
Readings/performances by HALLIE ELIZABETH NEWTON, ROB BRYN, DREAD, and SEAN KENNERLY.
About the book:
For thousands of years spotted hyenas (Crocuta crocuta) were thought to be hermaphroditic, because males and females have identical phallic genitalia. Though they look nearly the same, they are sexually distinct, the slightly larger and more powerful females ruling their often extensive clans. With a wide range of communicative vocalizations and sophisticated interpersonal behaviors, hyenas are considered to be as intelligent as chimpanzees. Often mischaracterized as solely scavengers, they are actually skillful and effective hunters, seldom observed because they hunt most often in darkness.
Memoir of a Hyena is the harrowing memoir of one such spotted hyena as he lives his brief and difficult life in the shadow of his sister’s rise to greatness. Marginalized and scorned by his own family, caught in the crossfire of his clan’…

Designed for artists, museum curators, students, and members of the public alike, the discussion will provide an accessible introduction to conceptual art and
its many approaches.

Shangri-La-La, a comedy musical about Siegfried & Roy (at the Midtown International Theater Festival)
Shangri-La-La: A Comedy Musical About Siegfried & Roy
Shangri-La-La is a fast-moving one-hour comedy musical inspired by the rise of legendary Las Vegas entertainers Siegfried & Roy. The show follows two ambitious young immigrants who come to America, reinvent themselves in Las Vegas, and build a rhinestone kingdom at The Mirage — with original songs, magic, friendship, impossible dreams, outrageous costumes, Steve Wynn, Bugsy Siegel, and just enough tiger danger to keep everyone alert.
Written by Mike Meier & Peter Giambalvo, Shangri-La-La is part showbiz fairy tale, part immigrant reinvention story, part Vegas fever dream — and, yes, inspired by actual events. Unfortunately.
The New York performances are part of the Midtown International Theater Festival and will take place at the American Theatre of Actors, just north of Times Square.
Come for the music. Stay for the magic. Leave with a renewed respect for tigers.
