CPR Training

Long Beach Island Branch Due to high demand of the June 2nd CPR program this second date has been added to accommodate some of the wait listed persons.  It is now full. Thank you to all who signed up and accepted the date change.  **NOTE** Please bring knee pads, something to kneel on, to the session. Training class. In this session taught by a certified CPR instructor, you will learn prescribed procedures and practice those techniques on mannequins. Knee pads will be provided, but you must be able to kneel on the floor during the practice time with the mannequin. This program is free to registered participants; all costs will be covered by the Friends of the Island Library, who are sponsoring this program on Friday June 2 from 1 - 4 pm. Space is limited and you must register to attend. Operation Husky and the Collapse of Fascist Italy

Toms River Branch The decision to invade Sicily codenamed Operation Husky as part of the Allies’ strategy to win the battle for the Mediterranean was made at the Casablanca Conference in January 1943. The planning stage of this combined forces operation was confused and protracted and the operation, conducted on July 10, 1943, hardly less so. However once on shore encountering experienced German and Italian military units, the American army came of age as a fighting force. Military victory was attained on August 16 and surprisingly, the victory caused the downfall of the Fascist government in Italy.
