Participants will learn the parallel lemniscal and extralemniscal thalamic sensory systems, and how their distinct anatomical and functional roles are differentially impacted in neurodevelopmental conditions such as Fragile X Syndrome (FXS). This talk will address the need for circuit-specific biomarkers and therapeutic targets based on these systems, particularly focusing on the under-recognized role of hyperactivity in the extralemniscal pathway in FXS.

The Cincinnati Children's Academic Bootcamp is a destination CME conference in Snowbird, UT (just outside of Salt Lake City) sponsored by the Division of Hospital Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The conference provides a unique opportunity for participants to obtain mentorship from an elite group of faculty to strengthen their scholarly skills. Faculty are nationally-recognized experts in their respective fields, drawn from multiple leading institutions.
