MS Dance Movement Somatics Class

As part of the MS Dance Movement Program this Spring we bring you a seven week Somatics and Creative Movement class. New and returning participants are welcome - no experience necessary! We are thrilled to welcome back Cory Nakasue, a highly experienced somatics teacher, who will lead the classes. What is a Somatics class? Somatics is a broad term referring to movement based practices that help us find better understanding of anatomy, alignment and posture to ease tension and build strength. Cory draws from multiple techniques such as Yoga, Pilates, dance and others in teaching somatics. Although this class differs somewhat from our prior dance programming our aim is to bring you creative movement that is enjoyable and beneficial. Join certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Emily Reilly in a virtual live-streamed meeting as she addresses living with MS and staying active. *Tip, wear workout clothes and get ready to Keep Moving with Emily! Things to have handy for the exercise and MS meeting: - sturdy chair (with arm rests especially if need additional trunk support) - tennis ball - have a fan near by to stay cool (or a cool towel) - water - wear breathable comfy clothes This wellness group is open to Penn MS Center patients.
