Amy's Kisses 12th Annual Walk to Remember
The Amy's Kisses Foundation was created in memory of Amy Perez, and her children, Molly and Gregory, who were tragically killed in an act of domestic violence in 2011. Our mission is to educate students about healthy relationships to help prevent domestic violence tragedies in the future, and to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors, honoring Amy’s passion for education.
Each year, Amy’s Kisses hosts our Annual Walk to Remember at Tyler State Park, bringing together supporters to honor the lives of Amy, Molly, and Gregory. This meaningful event raises awareness about domestic violence while inspiring change through education.

Beethoven and Marsalis
Composer, trumpeter, and standard-bearer for the art form, jazz legend Wynton Marsalis has earned scores of awards including the Pulitzer Prize for Music. In 1983, he became the first and only artist ever to win both a Classical and Jazz GRAMMY in the same year; in 1984 he did it again. Joined by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra performs Marsalis’s newest work on a program with Beethoven’s lively, melodic Seventh Symphony.
An America 250 Event
As Philadelphia takes part in the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations, we are proud to honor the voices of those who helped shape our country but were not fully heard in 1776. The world premiere of Marsalis’s Symphony No. 5 (“Liberty”), co-commissioned by the Orchestra, reflects our commitment to amplifying historically marginalized voices and inviting great American musicians to our stages.

Artist Talk with Bo Bartlett
Meet the artist behind some of contemporary American realism's most striking images.
Bo Bartlett, PAFA Certificate alum (1980) and featured artist in A Nation of Artists, joins us for an intimate conversation about his life's work--monumental paintings that capture American life with photographic precision and profound emotional depth.
Bartlett's canvases are populated by figures caught in moments of contemplation, transition, and everyday transcendence. Influenced by his close friendship with Andrew Wyeth and his rigorous training at PAFA, Bartlett has spent five decades refining a distinctive vision of contemporary American experience. His works appear in major museum collections nationwide, and his recent paintings continue to explore themes of memory, place, and the search for meaning in an ever-changing America.
In this lunchtime talk, Bartlett discusses his artistic journey from PAFA student to celebrated painter, his working methods and technical approach to large-scale realism, and what it means to…

Philadelphia Orchestra: Gershwin and Bernstein
Yannick celebrates two toweringly gifted composers, seminal American voices of the 20th century. Gershwin’s Piano Concerto dances through cityscapes, brash and brilliant. Bernstein, whose works for the concert hall, opera stage, Broadway, and film formed the soundtrack of the century, is represented by his Broadway masterwork West Side Story, and his impassioned “Jeremiah” Symphony, an epic chronicle of a prophet and a people.
The Orchestra’s 125th birthday celebration ends with a party! George Gershwin threw open the doors of the classical concert hall with his Concerto in F, seasoning the traditional form of the concerto with a belt of the blues and a jigger of jazz-age gin. It’s performed here by Hélène Grimaud, a pianist whose performances with Yannick and the Orchestra display a uniquely attuned relationship, as though they had performed together forever.
In between we hear a Bernstein masterpiece less often performed: his Symphony No. 1 (“Jeremiah”). Inspired by the story of the Hebrew prophet Jerem…

PhilaLandmarks Early Music Series Presents James Reese
James Reese and Brandon Acker invite audiences into the intimate and emotionally charged world of the airs de cour, the “songs of the court” that captivated France in the early 1600s. Heard in royal chambers and private homes, these supremely elegant songs were the pop music of French royalty. Both refined and personal, airs de cour pair solo voice with a lute in simple, direct expressions of poetry, revealing a world of longing, tenderness, wit, and heartbreak. These songs are far from distant historical artifacts; they feel modern in their emotional honesty. In this concert, Acker and Reese offer a rare opportunity to connect face-to-face with composers, singers, and poets from hundreds of years ago, whose songs and poetry express all the things that still make us human today.

Gershwin and Bernstein

Common Waters: One Ocean Many Voices
Arch Enemy Arts is honored to announce Common Waters: One Ocean Many Voices, a landmark charitable exhibition on view June 5 through July 12, 2026 at Arch Enemy Arts, located at 109 Arch Street in Old City Philadelphia. A portion of exhibition proceeds and visitor donations will directly benefit PangeaSeed, the nation’s only arts-based ocean advocacy organization. Presented during the semiquincentennial of the United States’ founding, Common Waters brings together more than 50 contemporary artists from around the world to explore humanity’s relationship with the ocean through the lens of the seven UNESCO Ocean Literacy Principles. Artists were invited to create original works that reflect, interpret, or challenge how we understand the sea’s role in climate, culture, biodiversity, and global interconnectedness. “At a moment when the United States is reflecting on 250 years of history, COMMON WATERS invites us to look outward rather than inward,” says Tré Packard, Founder and Executive Director of PangeaSeed. “…

Keke Wyatt
City Winery Philadelphia presents Keke Wyatt live on June 5th at 6pm and 9:30pm. View all Keke Wyatt shows -->
The Early Years Born Ke’Tara (pronounced key-TAIR-ruh) Wyatt, Indianapolis-native Keke grew up the second born along with three brothers (all musically inclined) in a mixed-race family. Father Keever Wyatt II is a minister, organist and vocalist, and Mother Lorna Wyatt is a powerful vocalist and church choir director. Keke’s grandmother discovered her ability to harmonize at age two. She began singing in church with her family shortly after she had her first solo performance at age five. Keke recorded her first gospel song, “What If,” when she was ten years-old. Music was Keke’s first love—not only singing but as a good drummer and percussionist, also she would attempt at keyboards, guitar, and bass. Keke was the only girl on her high school wrestling team (having all brothers and live-in male cousins creates such necessities). In between bouts on the mat, Keke performed with various girl groups. The Crossing: MoM 1: Building a Contemporary Canon, Edition 1
We tap our vast catalogue of commissioned works for those that examine “Where we are”; the assessment, if not always optimistic, is tirelessly honest and inquisitive as heard through the music of some of the country’s most adventurous composers. A new work of Canadian composer Nicole Lizée and works of David Lang, Shara Nova, Julia Wolfe, Michael Gordon, Stratis Minakakis, John Luther Adams, Edie Hill, Caroline Shaw, and Gabriel Jackson form a kind of musical quilt that says, “We are here, and this is what it feels like to be here.”

The 4th Annual 2nd Place Race, created by Ed Wagner of Clubedventures, returns to Philadelphia on June 6. Participants will travel between neighborhood bars including Devil’s Alley and City Tap House Logan Square, completing challenges, solving puzzles, and collecting points along the way. But it’s not just about racking up a high score. Teams can trade, strategize, and outmaneuver each other in real time, all while keep…

Freddie Jackson
City Winery Philadelphia presents Freddie Jackson live on June 6th at 7:30pm.
To urban contemporary listeners, Freddie Jackson is one of the biggest stars of the latter half of the ’80s, dominating the R&B charts seemingly at will. Jackson’s forte was sophisticated, romantic soul ballads aimed at adult audiences, but he was also capable of tackling urban contemporary dance fare and even the occasional jazz tune. Yet unlike many of his peers — Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Peabo Bryson, etc. — Jackson never managed to cross over to the pop charts, where none of his R&B smashes even breached the Top Ten. As new trends like hip-hop altered the urban contemporary landscape, Jackson gradually faded from view during the ’90s.
Jackson was born October 2, 1956, in Harlem, and like so many soul stars, he was trained as a gospel singer from an early age, singing at the White Rock Baptist Church. There he met Paul Laurence, who would later become his producer and songwriting partner. After completing school, Jackson j…

Gershwin and Bernstein

The Outsiders features Danya Taymor’s Tony Award winning direction that’s “refreshing, gritty, and endlessly effective.” (The New York Times). Gershwin and Bernstein

The Crossing: MoM 1: Building a Contemporary Canon, Edition 1, presented by ArtPhilly
Immigration. Extinction. Resolve. Ailing Planet.
† ArtPhilly, whose goal is to establish Philadelphia as a globally recognized hub for arts and culture, presents a multi-disciplinary citywide “festival of all perspectives,” connecting audiences to each other through ongoing artistic programming and commissions of original works.
Nicole Lizée’s new work is commissioned by The Crossing and Donald Nally, Volti, and Cantori New York.

Opening Reception for Still Creating: The UArts Community Lives On
Let's honor the legacy of UArts, uniting artists in resilience and celebrating a creative community that continues to thrive.
In the wake of the unexpected closure of the University of the Arts (UArts) in 2024, the creative community was left with a deep sense of loss. Still Creating: The UArts Community Lives On emerges from a shared belief that art can preserve memory, honor resilience, and reconnect people across time and place.
Featuring work by former UArts students, faculty, staff, and alumni, this juried exhibition invites the community to witness the enduring spirit of UArts through the voices and visions of its artists. The Henry Art Gallery is honored to host a space where that spirit can continue to be seen, heard, and celebrated.

A Conversation with Jill Biden
In View from the East Wing, Dr. Biden tells her story in her own words—the story of an ordinary woman living an extraordinary life, and what it truly means to serve as wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and First Lady all at once. In this onstage program, she offers a candid, behind-the-scenes look at life in the East Wing—from grading papers in the Rose Garden to traveling aboard Air Force One, from weekends at Camp David to the unforgettable moment her husband's reelection bid came to an unexpected end.
Drawing on her years at the center of American politics, Dr. Biden shares hard-won lessons in leading with purpose, navigating crisis with grace, and staying grounded in your values when the stakes couldn't be higher—insights that resonate far beyond the White House, and long after the conversation ends.
Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the most distinctive voices of a defining era in American history.

This Is (Not) a Celebration: Queer Resistance, 1976/2026 reveals the history of Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ organizing, activism, and protest during the Bicentennial through rarely seen archival materials and the work of three local artists; Scarlett DeLorme, Justin Jain, and Amy Cousins, whose work engages with these stories through a contemporary lens.
Within the civic reflection of the 250th of the United States, This Is (Not) a Celebration shifts the focus from commemoration to resistance. Organized by the William Way LGBT Community Center, artists were invited to create work in dialogue with materials from the Center’s John J. Wilcox, Jr. Archives—the most extensive collection documenting the history of Philadelphia’s LGBTQ community. Scarlett DeLorme's wet plate photography, Justin Jain's ceramics, and Amy Cousins’ print and fiber installations insist that 1976 was not a moment of patriotic consensus, but one of queer defiance.

TED Democracy Philadelphia Founding Futures
Visit Philadelphia and TED are collaborating to create TED Democracy Philadelphia: Founding Futures
Held in honor of America’s 250th birthday in 2026, this flagship event will feature more than a dozen brand-new TED Talks from the Marian Anderson Hall stage, as well as interactive activations, performances, culinary pop-ups, and networking opportunities. The event’s Founding Futures theme takes an active interpretation of the word “founding,” exploring the evolving story of democracy, while both honoring our past and looking ahead.
We’re not just celebrating what was founded here, but asking how we are founding the future. Guests are invited to imagine the democracy we want to build by examining the ideals that shaped the past and the hard-earned lessons that continue to push us forward. At a time when democratic values are being tested and redefined, Founding Futures asks: How do we — together — create a future that is more just, inclusive, participatory, and resilient?

Tunes on the Terrace featuring the Arcana New Music Ensemble
In collaboration with Bowerbird, Stoneleigh is pleased to present the Arcana New Music Ensemble performing the music of Pauline Oliveros’s works The Well and The Gentle. Pauline Oliveros’ (1932-2016) life as a composer, performer and humanitarian was about opening her own and others’ sensibilities to the universe and facets of sounds. Her career spanned fifty years of boundary dissolving music making. In the ’50s, she was part of a circle of iconoclastic composers, artists, and poets gathered in San Francisco. In the ’60s, she influenced American music profoundly through her work with improvisation, meditation, electronic music, myth, and ritual.
Written between 1982-1983 and commissioned by Philadelphia’s Relâche Ensemble, The Well and The Gentle are two of Oliveros’ Sonic Meditations – text-based, intuitive pieces rooted in listening with minimal instructions.
