Quintessence Theatre presents Shakespeare’s “Rare Accidents”
“Succession” was not the first time we obsessed over who dad was going to choose to take over. His father killed a king and usurped a kingdom, but the prodigal Prince Hal spends his days consorting with
commoners and playing pranks with his philandering old knight, Sir John Falstaff, rather than studying statecraft and preparing to be the next King of England. A civil war is threatened when Hotspur and his father, the Earl of Northumberland, claim their right to the throne, forcing Hal and Falstaff from the tavern to the battlefield. In this struggle for the divine right to wear the crown, Shakespeare’s epic family drama challenges what makes a good son, a good friend, and a good leader.

Eddie Izzard - Hamlet
Following her triumphant triple-extended New York run, a box office record-breaking run at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, a six-week London run which Dame Judi Dench called "spectacular," and sold out runs in San Francisco and Seattle, Eddie Izzard performs her solo performance of Shakespeare's Hamlet in Philadelphia.
Hamlet marks Eddie's second solo show following her sold-out run of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, which played to rave reviews in New York and at The Garrick Theatre in London's West End. Eddie's performance of Shakespeare's Hamlet sees her take on 23 characters in a very unique re-telling of the iconic play.
The King of Denmark is dead and Prince Hamlet is determined to take revenge, initiating a cascade of events that will destroy both family and state. Eddie will be portraying men, women, ghosts, scholars, tyrants, courtiers, lovers, and fools.

Mahler’s Symphony No. 2
Yannick continues the Orchestra’s exploration of Mahler with one of the composer’s most enduring classics. Shaking the heavens, Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony is a vast, spectacular work requiring a large orchestra as well as organ, chorus, two soloists, and multiple offstage musicians. In its sublime ending, majestic and awe-inspiring, a heavenly choir sings and in that moment, Mahler wrote, “a feeling of overwhelming love fills us.”
A sublime cast of soloists summons the heavens in these performances of Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony! Soprano Ying Fang has “a voice that can stop time, pure and rich and open and consummately expressive” (Financial Times). And Joyce DiDonato—who won rave reviews for her appearances in the Orchestra’s 2024 performances of Mahler’s Third Symphony—has a voice that NPR calls “truly one of nature’s great wonders: luminous, silken, flexible, full of colors and expressive shadings, always supported by the breath so that even the finest threads of tone shine.”

The Excellent Dr. Blackwell
About the Play:
The Excellent Doctor Blackwell reimagines the iconic pioneer, Elizabeth Blackwell, not as a portrait in a museum, but as a brilliant, conflicted woman wrestling with legacy, love, and the limits of her own ambition.
Set against the sun-drenched backdrop of 1876 Italy, the play intertwines past and present as a young student and a watchful daughter stir up questions that Blackwell has spent a lifetime avoiding. This time-bending drama reveals the private struggles behind public triumphs and asks what any of us are willing to sacrifice to change the world.
About the Playwright:
Dr. Margo Weishar is a physician–playwright determined to tell the story behind the story, the private, often invisible lives of women who moved ahead of their time. After a long career in medicine, she earned a graduate degree in theatre at Villanova, turning to writing to pursue the questions that stayed with her: the cost of ambition, the tension between purpose and desire, the truths history smooths away. MOLIÈRE’S TARTUFFE
MOLIÈRE’S TARTUFFE
A NEW VERSION BY BOB SLOAN
DIRECTED BY JOSH McILVAIN
The Kammerspiel announces the world premiere of a bold new adaptation of Molière’s Tartuffe, reimagined by Bob Sloan and directed by Josh McIlvain.
Often regarded as Molière’s greatest play, Tartuffe skewers hypocrisy, piety-as-performance, and the dangers of blind devotion. Riffing on the original vitality of Molière’s rhymed couplets, Bob Sloan’s adaptation positions Tartuffe squarely in two worlds at once by honoring the play’s classical roots while speaking with unmistakable contemporary candor.
The play follows Orgon, the epitome of bourgeois respectability, who falls under the spell of the ultra-pious charlatan Tartuffe. Only after Tartuffe threatens Orgon’s fortune, his family’s safety, and even their chastity does Orgon begin to recognize the peril of surrendering his judgment to a cultish, self-serving zealot.
As our own moment feels increasingly shaped by figures who weaponize righteousness for personal gain, Tartuffe e…

The Blues tell the story of life's difficulties, and if you think for a moment, you will realize that they take the hardest realities of life and put them into music, only to come out with some new hope or sense of triumph. This is triumphant music." ~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

David Nihill: Taking Tangents Tour
After a sold-out world tour comedian and author David Nihill is back with his brand-new show, Taking Tangents, which promises to do exactly that.
Leaving Dublin, Ireland where he was born and raised until the age of 22, David got drunk on travel and never quite hit sobriety of it. He has lived and worked in twelve countries and visited over seventy. His shows draw on his wide travels, cultural observations, attempts at language study, (occasional) international drinking session(s), and being a mildly confused immigrant.
David is the winner of the prestigious annual San Francisco Comedy Competition, (previous finalists include Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dana Carvey) and runner-up in the Moth's largest US Grandslam storytelling competition. David recorded his debut special, Documented, for Dry Bar Comedy in 2019, and his follow up, Cultural Appreciation, in 2023, and his award-winning Shelf Help in 2025. He has been featured on TED.com, Sirius XM, Just For Laughs, Netflix is a Joke Festival, RTE's L…

Objects Up Close Virtual Series
Adornment and Allegiance: Tortoiseshell and the Formation of American Identity
The eagle has long been a symbol of American pride, but a tortoiseshell comb in the Albany Room invites us to consider the role of another animal. Hawksbill turtles, from which tortoiseshells are painfully taken, swam oceans away from the emerging nation. This distance did not make the valued material un-American, but rather, a powerful symbol of how the former colonies were becoming a colonizing force themselves. In its current location, Henry Francis du Pont’s placement of the comb in a room packed with imagery of eagles and agrarian bliss also offers the opportunity to consider his vision of early Americana. This virtual lecture is presented by Estrella Salgado, Fellow, Winterthur Program in American Material Culture. Registration required. Free.

Genealogy in Early America
In 18th-century America, genealogy was more than a simple record of family ties–it was a powerful force that shaped society. Karin Wulf’s book, Lineage: Genealogy and the Power of Connection in Early America. delves into an era where individuals, families, and institutions meticulously documented their connections. It reveals the profound importance of genealogy that was chronicled by court documents, family records, and cultural artifacts, like many objects in Winterthur’s collections. These materials, created by both enslaved individuals seeking freedom and founding fathers seeking status, demonstrate the culturally and historically specific nature of genealogical interest. Even as the American Revolution transformed society, the significance of genealogy endured. The legacy of lineage from the colonial period continued to shape the early United States, underscoring the enduring importance of family connections. Lineage offers a deep understanding of genealogy as a foundational e…

City Winery Philadelphia presents Cherish The Ladies live on Thursday, March 12th at 7:30pm.
“It is simply impossible to imagine an audience that wouldn’t enjoy what they do,” says The Boston Globe of Cherish The Ladies, Grammy Award nominated Irish-American supergroup that formed in 1985 to celebrate the rise of extraordinary women in what had been a male-dominated Celtic music scene. Cherish The Ladies has shared timeless Irish traditions and good cheer with audiences worldwide for decades. They’ve brought their signature blend of virtuosic instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, and stunning step dancing to the White House, the Olympics, and to PBS with their television special, An Irish Homecoming, which received an Emmy Award. The Washington Post praises the “astonishing array of virtuosity” that Cherish The Ladies bring to the stage on a regular basis. Liszt’s piano concertos challenge even the most virtuosic pianists, and his passionate Second is no exception, traversing the keyboard with knuckle-cramping, breakneck passages that render the player’s hands a blur. Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin, a “marvelous, moving” artist (The New York Times) whose “technical finesse borders on the supernatural” (The Seattle Times), is more than equal to the challenge. Buckle up for a wild ride in this virtuoso display!

Brew N' History Tour
Explore the graves of some icons while pairing their legacies with Yards Brewery. See how 18th-century drink culture fueled a new Republic.
Step back in time—and raise a glass—to the stories that built a nation.
Philadelphia isn’t just the cradle of American Liberty; it was a brewing capital of the New World. From the first commercial vineyards to the smoky taverns where revolution was whispered, alcohol has flowed through the veins of the city since the 1680s.

Gallery Talk with Winter Residency Fellow Lin Elkins
Join the Museum for Art in Wood for a gallery talk with the 2026 Winter Residency Fellow Lin Elkins. The residency is designed for artists in Greater Philadelphia who work in the medium of wood and is a collaboration between the Museum for Art in Wood and NextFab. An exhibition of work created during the two-month program will be presented at NextFab from March 12 to May 21.
Elkins is a Philadelphia-based artist, furniture maker, and craftswoman who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Furniture Design from Appalachian State University. Brew N' History Tour
Explore the graves of some icons while pairing their legacies with Yards Brewery. See how 18th-century drink culture fueled a new Republic.
Step back in time—and raise a glass—to the stories that built a nation.

The Bearded Ladies Cabaret: AAAHH!!! Bling-Along Sing-Along
AAAHH!!! Bling-Along
Hosted by Jarbeaux! Additional hosts TBA!
The horrors persist, but so do The Bearded Ladies! Join Fox News’ least favorite queer cabaret company for ANOTHER round of coordinated group screaming…excuse us, solidarity sing-along shows! We’ll drown out the opposition with rousing renditions of songs that have absolutely nothing to do with fascism, timed perfectly for the 250th year of America’s chickens coming home to roost.
A (key) change is gonna come, but only if we sing it into existence! Whether you come for community, the singing, or just to let out a primal scream, it’s gonna take all of us to make good harmony in this mess.
By the time this 90 minute show is over you will have survived another 90 minutes.

The Wilma Theater presents: The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington by James Ijames
Behold the feverish Martha Washington, our first First Lady, on her deathbed, surrounded by the enslaved people poised to claim freedom the moment she dies (true story). In her final hours, she is confronted by a hallucinatory “trial” where she must face her past and the legacy of slavery in the United States. The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington by Pulitzer Prize-winning James Ijames (Fat Ham) is a spicy satire that explores issues of race, power, and historical memory. The Wilma’s HotHouse Acting Company brings this pertinent and dynamic production to life with deep sincerity, high-stakes clowning, and striking imagery under the direction of HotHouse Member Brett Ashley Robinson.

ArtistNConversation: Albert Chong with Gustavo Garcia and Justine Ditto
Please join us on March 18 at 6PM for an inspiring conversation with artist and photographer Albert Chong, moderated by Gustavo Garcia
Albert Chong is a contemporary artist dealing with personal mysticism, spirituality, race and identity, and numerous other topics through his work. His main bodies of photographic work have been in the genres of still life in black and white and color that represent and reanimate Chong’s family history. Through his work we learn about Aunt Winnie, Justice, Miss Peggy, and gain an insight into one family’s story from Jamaica’s past. These works use analog and digital layering to create the sometimes dense but usually simple arrangements that infer, relate, connect and signify the complex nature of the struggles of the displaced peoples of the Asian and African diaspora. Chong’s other works in the photographic medium include his Throne for the Ancestors Series and his portraits of artist friends and of Jamaicans in Various parts of Jamaica.
Albert Chong was born in Kingston, Jam…

Exploring “boundaries both physical and emotional” (Philadelphia Inquirer), this magnetic ballet is set to a score of hits by female artists including Joanna Newsom, Martha Wainwright, and Cyndi Lauper.
Show Me was co-commissioned with the Vail Dance Festival in 2015. Hailed as “winning and witty” by The New York Times and set to the music of string quartet Brooklyn Rider, this work shows off the physical prowess and idiosyncratic personalities of BalletX’s dancers, as only Matthew Neena…

Philly GRIT: The Dangers of Tobacco
Theatre Exile presents The Dangers of Tobacco by Justin Jain and Anton Chekhov as a part of Philly Grit, a series of shows by Philadelphia performers who step outside the boundaries of traditional theater to shine a bright light on our world. This Chekhovian one-act gets a wild, comedic overhaul, as a dusty old professor strays from his lecture and finds himself looking back at the ever-present “what could have been.” In this ultimate mash-up, Justin Jain also looks back as they deconstruct this classic text and explode the story into the familial tale of a first-generation queer Filipino-American. Justin explores the fine line between performer, character, and clown as they playfully entrance the audience with these intertwining stories.
