This class is perfect for beginner to intermediate wheel throwing students. Whether you've taken a pottery class before or this is your first time using the wheel, you will be able to develop your ceramic skills to create beautiful functional pieces. We will cover foundational topics including centering, handle making, throwing functional forms (cups, bowls, plates, etc.), trimming, and surface decorations. Come and learn the joys of making art you can use!
Class will run Tuesday nights April 7th - May 12th 6pm - 9pm
Please note that this workshop takes place in the Utility Works basement, which is only accessible via stairs. The class requires participants to be able to sit and/or stand for at least three hours and use their hands for two hours. You must be able to lift 25lbs. There are two gender-neutral bathrooms available for students, including one that is ADA accessible. In this class, you will learn how to create ceramic tiles using slab-building techniques and then transform them with decorative surface methods. Create your own texture rollers, try your hand at sgraffito carving, and experiment with underglaze painting to add color and personality to your work.
Once you’ve practiced these techniques, you’ll use your decorated slabs to construct a beautiful, functional flower pot—perfect for welcoming spring into your home.

Plantation Goods: A Material History of American Slavery
The industrializing North and the agricultural South—that’s how we have been taught to think about the United States in the early nineteenth century. But in doing so, we overlook the economic ties that held the nation together before the Civil War. We miss slavery’s long reach into small New England communities, just as we fail to see the role of Northern manufacturing in shaping the terrain of human bondage in the South. Using plantation goods—the shirts, hats, hoes, shovels, shoes, axes, and whips made in the North for use in the South—historian Seth Rockman locates the biggest stories in American history in the everyday objects that stitched together the lives and livelihoods of Americans—white and Black, male and female, enslaved and free—across an expanding nation. Rockman is the George L. Littlefield Professor of American History, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Brown University.

The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow is a hilarious and heartfelt “techno-comedy,” that tells the story of Jennifer Marcus, an agoraphobic computer genius, who goes searching for her biological mother in China. Along the way she is aided by a Mormon missionary, a pizza delivery driver, and the outstanding robot she built called Jenny Chow.
The play, authored by Rolin Jones, won the 2006 Obie Award for Playwriting. Mr. Jones was also a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this play. For the last four years, Mr. Jones has been writer-producer for Showtime’s award-winning series Weeds.

This program features the world premiere of Never/Mind, a new work choreographed by Artistic Director Roni Koresh with an original score by Sage DeAgro-Ruopp.
Never/Mind is a state of mind in which your creativity is reached free from external opinions, expectations, and distractions. In this unfiltered mental space, the artist cannot be swayed—focused solely on instinct, individuality, and authentic expression. Through Koresh’s signature physicality and DeAgro-Ruopp’s evocative composition, the work invites audiences to consider what becomes possible when we silence the noise and trust our own voice.

IMAGINATIVE TECHNO-COMEDY OPENING AT THE STAGECRAFTERS
The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow is a hilarious and heartfelt “techno-comedy,” that tells the story of Jennifer Marcus, an agoraphobic computer genius, who goes searching for her biological mother in China. Along the way she is aided by a Mormon missionary, a pizza delivery driver, and the outstanding robot she built called Jenny Chow.
The play, authored by Rolin Jones, won the 2006 Obie Award for Playwriting. Mr. Jones was also a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this play. For the last four years, Mr. Jones has been writer-producer for Showtime’s award-winning series Weeds.

Join us as we dig into history with archaeological excavations at Newlin Grist Mill and learn more about the site through the evidence under our feet!
The public is invited to participate (or just watch) as Newlin Grist Mill’s professional archaeologist, Keith Doms, and a dedicated corps of archaeology volunteers seek to gain a deeper understanding of the site’s history through careful excavation using scientific techniques and thorough documentation. Depending on the day, visitors might be invited to help screen excavated soil to look for small artifacts or assist with cleaning artifacts that have already been excavated.
Free and open to all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). No reservations are required. If you would like to help out with the dig, be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and close-toed footwear. Bring work gloves if you have them; the site has a limited number of pairs to lend. For safety, hands-on participation is limited to those ages 5+.

We're Looking for New Voices!
Children in grades 2-11 who live or attend school in Chester are eligible to audition on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Our more than 100 children are joyful, accomplished, exuberant, and playful! They love to sing all different kinds of music - from Handel’s Messiah to The Beatles’ “Let It Be.”
In addition to singing, we also practice math before every rehearsal. Each child receives individualized instruction from both a full-time math teacher and Swarthmore College student math coaches.
The fun keeps going in our five-week, full-day summer program, which features music, math, reading, science, and swimming.
The program is at no cost and includes round-trip transportation upon acceptance.

The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow is a hilarious and heartfelt “techno-comedy,” that tells the story of Jennifer Marcus, an agoraphobic computer genius, who goes searching for her biological mother in China. Along the way she is aided by a Mormon missionary, a pizza delivery driver, and the outstanding robot she built called Jenny Chow.
The play, authored by Rolin Jones, won the 2006 Obie Award for Playwriting. Mr. Jones was also a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this play. For the last four years, Mr. Jones has been writer-producer for Showtime’s award-winning series Weeds.

When we think of the American Revolution, we often picture thirteen colonies squaring off against the British Crown in a spirited bid for independence. But this version of the story is only half the truth—and perhaps not even the most interesting half. In this riveting program, historian and author Richard Bell invites audiences to rediscover the Revolution as a world war that unleashed chaos, opportunity, and transformation across six continents. From the sugar fields of the Caribbean to the court of the King of Mysore, from refugee camps on the Canadian frontier to political uprisings in Sierra Leone and Peru, the war that gave birth to the United States was never simply America’s own. It was a seismic global event that redrew maps, toppled hierarchies, catalyzed migration, and accelerated new movements for liberty—and for empire. IMAGINATIVE TECHNO-COMEDY OPENING AT THE STAGECRAFTERS
The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow is a hilarious and heartfelt “techno-comedy,” that tells the story of Jennifer Marcus, an agoraphobic computer genius, who goes searching for her biological mother in China. Along the way she is aided by a Mormon missionary, a pizza delivery driver, and the outstanding robot she built called Jenny Chow.
The play, authored by Rolin Jones, won the 2006 Obie Award for Playwriting. Mr. Jones was also a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this play. For the last four years, Mr. Jones has been writer-producer for Showtime’s award-winning series Weeds.

The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow is a hilarious and heartfelt “techno-comedy,” that tells the story of Jennifer Marcus, an agoraphobic computer genius, who goes searching for her biological mother in China. Along the way she is aided by a Mormon missionary, a pizza delivery driver, and the outstanding robot she built called Jenny Chow.

Later, his performances at The Phoenix Playboy club paid for college and made a career in show business look more appealing than getting a real job. Moving to New York City, Mark became one of the Trade Show Industry’s leading magicians, traveling over a million air miles for Fortune 500 clients. Now in Washington DC, Mark has headlined on luxury cruise lines like Cunard and Crystal, performed at the National Theatre and Kennedy Center. In 2014 Mark co-founded the 5-star rated (Yelp, Tripadvisor, Google) The Magic Duel Comedy Show (The Duel will be at HOM on July 17/18th) which entertains Washington DC audiences most Saturday nights in the Washington DC area.

IMAGINATIVE TECHNO-COMEDY OPENING AT THE STAGECRAFTERS
The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow is a hilarious and heartfelt “techno-comedy,” that tells the story of Jennifer Marcus, an agoraphobic computer genius, who goes searching for her biological mother in China. Along the way she is aided by a Mormon missionary, a pizza delivery driver, and the outstanding robot she built called Jenny Chow.
The play, authored by Rolin Jones, won the 2006 Obie Award for Playwriting. Mr. Jones was also a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this play. For the last four years, Mr. Jones has been writer-producer for Showtime’s award-winning series Weeds.
