Speaker Series: Was America Founded as a Christian Nation?
Join Us for an Evening with Author John Fea.
Join us and author John Fea for a thought-provoking conversation exploring one of the most enduring and debated questions in American history: Was America founded as a Christian nation?
Drawing from his book Was America Founded as a Christian Nation?: A Historical Introduction, Fea examines the topic through a careful historical lens, moving beyond modern political rhetoric to explore the complex realities of the nation’s founding. Rather than arguing for one side or the other, Fea invites audiences to engage directly with the historical record, offering a nuanced perspective grounded in primary sources and scholarship.
This free speaker series event will explore the intersections of religion, democracy, history, and national identity, while encouraging thoughtful dialogue about how we understand America’s past today. Dr. David Krueger of the Dialogue Institute at Temple University will facilitate the conversation.

Want to learn more about wine without memorizing from a textbook or sweating over the perfect tasting note? Same! As we see it, the best way to learn is to taste different wines and talk about them with friends around you.

One 2-hour class, co-taught by Chris Liu and Sande Friedman
Guided tasting through 6-8 wines; mostly Chardonnay, with guest appearances
A family-style meal inspired by Chardonnay & friends at the end of class

Pennsylvania Governors and Ben Franklin Read Commonwealth's Declaration of Independence on its 250th Anniversary
Former Pennsylvania Governors Tom Wolf and Mark Schweiker – joined by Benjamin Franklin – will lead a free public reading of Pennsylvania’s Declaration of Independence at Carpenters’ Hall, exactly 250 years after it was ratified there in 1776.
Connected to the America 250 commemoration, with a focus on a local Revolutionary-era story, this event brings to life the forgotten moment when delegates from across Pennsylvania declared independence from Britain, created the Commonwealth, and helped clear the way for the Declaration of Independence. It’s a chance for Philadelphians to step inside one of the city’s most historic spaces and experience a powerful, often-overlooked chapter of Pennsylvania history where it actually happened.

Germanic Wines: Austria, Germany, and Beyond!
Step off the beaten path and into the heart of Central Europe’s most compelling wine regions. In this class, we’ll dive deep into the wines of Austria, Switzerland, and Germany—three countries that share more than a linguistic root. Their vineyards are shaped by ancient rivers, steep hillsides, and centuries of cultural exchange.
Swiss wines remain elusive outside their borders, yet insiders know: these high-altitude bottles offer purity and precision like few others. Austrian wines are a study in extremes—blazing acidity, bold reds, and whites with structure and soul. And then there’s Germany. Revered for Riesling, yes—but there’s far more to discover beneath the surface.
This isn’t just a tasting—it’s a reeducation. Most Americans rarely get access to these wines. In this class, you will. Join us and see why sommeliers, collectors, and wine scholars are obsessed with the Germanic wine world.

Alongside the suppression of Black history and historical truth, the regime has promoted the myth of widespread “anti-Christian bias” as part of a broader effort to redefine America as a fundamentally Christia…

Emo Night Brooklyn
Welcome to Emo Night Brooklyn, a late-night, DJ-driven dance party blasting the best emo and pop punk jams that raised us, ruined us, and somehow still define us. We’re taking over The Foundry in Philadelphia on 26 June 2026 for a night of screaming every word, moshing with strangers, and feeling absolutely everything.
This is not a quiet night out. Expect wall-to-wall emo and pop punk anthems, deep cuts, and songs you still know by heart even if you pretend you’ve “moved on.” From the tracks that got you through your worst years to the ones that still hit a little too hard, Emo Night Brooklyn is all about losing your voice, finding your people, and reliving the music that made us who we are. And yeah sometimes special guests and your favorite artists even jump in to join the chaos.
Come ready to scream, mosh, dance, cry in the corner (no judgment), and throw yourself into the pit with all your favorite people. Tell the DJs what you want to hear and we promise we listen better than your ex. It’s loud, it’s…

Community
Community, as defined in the Oxford Dictionary, is “a feeling of fellowship with others, as
a result of sharing common attitudes and interests”. A sense of community can lead to
empowerment and foster change in one’s life. My intention with this installation is to
suggest and comment on the urgency in our world these days of people coming
together regardless of their physicality or ethnicity. I hope to inspire introspection and
unity as we move forward during this challenging global time.

The Sound of America
The Sound of America is a high-voltage original rock opera that reimagines the life of Benjamin Franklin through the rebellious spirit of Rock n’ Roll. Written by Randall Lane and Todd Schwartz, directed by Kyle Metzger, and music directed by Luke McGinnis, the production follows Franklin’s rise from runaway apprentice to international celebrity, tracing his evolution as inventor, provocateur, lover, and revolutionary. Set against the backdrop of a young nation finding its voice, the musical draws powerful parallels between the birth of America and the rise of its most defiant art form: Rock ‘n Roll. Blending humor, romance, political intrigue, and electrifying music, The Sound of America transforms the story of Philadelphia’s favorite son into an epic rock musical about identity, rebellion, and the creation of a true American voice.

Old World vs. New World Wines
The deepest-held secret in wine is called terroir. Thousands of sommeliers worship terroir as the spark behind all great wines. Others say it’s a myth cooked up by a gaggle of medieval monks and juiced up by a coterie of modern marketing mavens. The one thing that is obvious to all in the know: there is a HUGE difference between the wines of Europe and the wines of America and other New World wine regions.
In this class, we pit the classics of Europe against our best. We are talking Napa Valley VS Bordeaux, New Zealand VS Burgundy, and more. Who will win this eternal match-up? The class will decide, and –who knows– maybe the wine instructor will pull a special bottle of wine from the cellar to finish the class!

Echoes of Independence: Bells, Organ, and Revolution
This Fourth of July, experience the sound of history at Christ Church.
In this special concert and historical presentation, the bells of Christ Church will ring out from the historic belfry in musical conversation with the church’s legendary 1702 bell displayed outside. Cast in the very same foundry as the Liberty Bell and predating it by more than 50 years, the 1702 bell offers a rare connection to colonial Philadelphia and the earliest sounds of the city.
The event will also feature the magnificent pipe organ of Christ Church. Installed just eight years ago, the instrument blends modern craftsmanship with the church’s centuries-old acoustic tradition, filling the sanctuary with music.
Alongside the performance, guests will enjoy a fascinating historical talk exploring the story of the bells, their role in the life of the church and city, and the enduring power of sound in moments of revolution, remembrance, and celebration.
