Each year, hundreds of cyclists take part in the Scenic Schuylkill Century Recreational Bicycle Rides. The event comprises a single day series of recreational bicycle rides (not a race) offering routes from 6 miles roundtrip to 100 miles roundtrip through Montgomery and Chester Counties. The event, organized by the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia (BCP), will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The fully supported rides start and finish at AIM Academy (1200 River Road, Conshohocken), located directly on the Schuylkill River Trail across from the Miquon Station on the SEPTA Manayunk/Norristown Regional Rail Line.

Join our one time class to learn the basics of handbuilding! All participants must be at least 6 years old, and accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 10 years old.
There is a $20.00 fee if you would like to keep what you throw. We will then finish and glaze your piece with a color of your choosing, and your piece will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after your class. We will notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. Please note that you must clean your wheel and area thoroughly at the end of class.
The kiln is an unpredictable place, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens, we will work with you to find a fair solution. No refunds for the class will be made for pieces that do not make it through both firings.

Commissioned by Samuel Shaw, the first American merchant to trade with China, 302 pieces of the service were produced and later procured for George Washington in 1786. This well-travelled set of porcelain was used during his presidency in the official residences in New York and Philadelphia, and during his retirement years at Mount Vernon. Following Washington’s death in 1799, the service went on a journey passing through the hands of family members and friends; eventually 74 pieces were acquired by Henry Francis du Pont and are on permanent display at Winterthur.

Learn how the Sesqui, the 1926 celebration of America’s 150th birthday in South Philly, became an unwitting battleground for many of the social struggles convulsing America in the 1920s. Wealthy and socially prominent women played a crucial role resulting in the Sesqui kickstarting the historic preservation movement. The Sesqui also saw the entry of Irish Catholics into the city’s power structure. Meanwhile Jews and Black people did not get the recognition they deserved for their contributions to Sesqui. At the same time, fair planners and city fathers prepared to welcome 100,000 Ku Klux Klan members for a public march and cross burning. Learn about all this and more in a lecture from Thomas H. Our All Levels wheel courses are perfect for students ranging from beginners to potters who have spent substantial time on the wheel.
This course's projects will be sourced by the interests of the class.
This class can be taken multiple times.
Our multi-week courses meet once weekly for 2 hours of instruction and include unlimited open studio time for you to practice independently. Open studio sessions are booked in 1-3 hour sessions, and are offered daily. Join our one time class to learn the basics of handbuilding! All participants must be at least 6 years old, and accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 10 years old.
There is a $20.00 fee if you would like to keep what you throw. We will then finish and glaze your piece with a color of your choosing, and your piece will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after your class. We will notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. Please note that you must clean your wheel and area thoroughly at the end of class.
The kiln is an unpredictable place, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens, we will work with you to find a fair solution. No refunds for the class will be made for pieces that do not make it through both firings.

Join our one time class to learn the basics of handbuilding! All participants must be at least 6 years old, and accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 10 years old.
There is a $20.00 fee if you would like to keep what you throw. We will then finish and glaze your piece with a color of your choosing, and your piece will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after your class. We will notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. Please note that you must clean your wheel and area thoroughly at the end of class.
The kiln is an unpredictable place, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens, we will work with you to find a fair solution. No refunds for the class will be made for pieces that do not make it through both firings.

Our multi-week children’s courses meet once a week for 90 minutes. During our courses, kids will get to learn the basics of throwing on the wheel in a safe, fun environment, while also getting to experience hand-building with clay. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child or teen to use their imagination and create something with their hands that they can eventually take home with them.
All clay, glazes, and firings are included in our children’s courses.

Join us as we dig into history with archaeological excavations at Newlin Grist Mill and learn more about the site through the evidence under our feet!
The public is invited to participate (or just watch) as Newlin Grist Mill’s professional archaeologist, Keith Doms, and a dedicated corps of archaeology volunteers seek to gain a deeper understanding of the site’s history through careful excavation using scientific techniques and thorough documentation. Depending on the day, visitors might be invited to help screen excavated soil to look for small artifacts or assist with cleaning artifacts that have already been excavated.
Free and open to all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). No reservations are required. If you would like to help out with the dig, be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and close-toed footwear. Bring work gloves if you have them; the site has a limited number of pairs to lend. For safety, hands-on participation is limited to those ages 5+.

Mined Opulence: A Silver Dinner and Dessert Service from Nevada
What happens when we interpret decorative art through the silver mine? During the Gilded Age, the American silver industry emerged out of the rapid growth of the mining industry in the West in the late nineteenth century, and artworks often came to express complicated ideas about politics, extractive industry, and land. Based on research in her forthcoming book, The American Silverscape, Dr. Christine Garnier, assistant professor of art history, University of California, Santa Barbara, will only scratch the surface of this complex historical moment through Tiffany & Co.’s dinner and dessert service for the family of Comstock billionaire John Mackay, all made from silver extracted from the Consolidated Virginia Mine in Virginia City, Nevada.

Join our one time class to learn the basics of handbuilding! All participants must be at least 6 years old, and accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 10 years old.
There is a $20.00 fee if you would like to keep what you throw. We will then finish and glaze your piece with a color of your choosing, and your piece will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after your class. We will notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. Please note that you must clean your wheel and area thoroughly at the end of class.
The kiln is an unpredictable place, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens, we will work with you to find a fair solution. No refunds for the class will be made for pieces that do not make it through both firings.

Our one-time Grown Up & Me wheel classes are 90 minutes long. This is a great way for adults & children to learn the basics of pottery while also getting a feel for the wheel in a casual, relaxed environment.

Join our one time class to learn the basics of handbuilding! All participants must be at least 6 years old, and accompanied by an adult if they are younger than 10 years old.
There is a $20.00 fee if you would like to keep what you throw. We will then finish and glaze your piece with a color of your choosing, and your piece will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after your class. We will notify you when your piece is finished, and we will hold your piece for 1 month after its completion before donating it. Please note that you must clean your wheel and area thoroughly at the end of class.
The kiln is an unpredictable place, and occasionally pieces may not successfully make it through both firings intact. If this happens, we will work with you to find a fair solution. No refunds for the class will be made for pieces that do not make it through both firings.

Our multi-week children’s courses meet once a week for 90 minutes. During our courses, kids will get to learn the basics of throwing on the wheel in a safe, fun environment, while also getting to experience hand-building with clay. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child or teen to use their imagination and create something with their hands that they can eventually take home with them.
All clay, glazes, and firings are included in our children’s courses.
Payment in full is required upon registration.
Please note Children must be at least 8 years old to sign up for the children’s course. Any children 7 years old or younger are welcome to sign up with an adult for our Grown-Up and Me course.

Open studio sessions are booked in 1-3 hour sessions, and are offered daily. Drawing on themes from her bestselling 2019 book How to Do Nothing, Jenny Odell will examine anxieties about our ability to focus and the way that the issue is often emptied of social, political, and spiritual content. Like anything else, the practice of paying attention can be aimed at increased productivity for productivity's sake—or worse, an abstract valuing of mental "performance."
