There are sword fights, rain on stage, taiko percussion, and more, transporting the audience to Heian-era Kyoto! Due to the themes of murder and assault, the play is recommended for ages 14+.
Rashomon was an Akira Kurosawa film in 1950 and had been hailed as one of his finest, starring Toshirô Mifune, Machiko Kyô Masayuki Mori, and Takashi Shimura. The play's Broadway premiere in 1959 (starring Rod Steiger and Claire Bloom) received rave reviews and was nominated for three Tony awards.

Rashomon was an Akira Kurosawa film in 1950 and had been hailed as one of his finest, starring Toshirô Mifune, Machiko Kyô Masayuki Mori, and Takashi Shimura. The play's Broadway premiere in 1959 (starring Rod Steiger and Claire Bloom) received rave reviews and was nominated for three Tony awards.

Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra (CATS) presents a play that explores the notions of truth and justice – a “who done it?” in medieval Japan -- challenging perceptions of eye witnesses. Based on stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Rashomon is written by Michael Kanin and Fay Kanin and directed by Sonny Alforque. There are sword fights, rain on stage, taiko percussion, and more, transporting the audience to Heian-era Kyoto! Due to the themes of murder and assault, the play is recommended for ages 14+.
Rashomon was an Akira Kurosawa film in 1950 and had been hailed as one of his finest, starring Toshirô Mifune, Machiko Kyô Masayuki Mori, and Takashi Shimura. The play's Broadway premiere in 1959 (starring Rod Steiger and Claire Bloom) received rave reviews and was nominated for three Tony awards.
