The Foundry Sings: No Biz like Show Biz!
The Miners Foundry Cultural Center is pleased to present the Foundry Sings: ‘No Biz Like Show Biz!’ on Wednesday, August 19th. Doors open at 5:30 pm, and singing begins at 6 pm.
Join friends, family, and neighbors as we come together through a shared love of singing. The historic Stone Hall will fill with voices as the audience sings classic favorites from Broadway and the big screen!
Music Director Rod Baggett, with vocal assistance from Robbie Merchant and Heather Grove and accompaniment from Jonathan Meredith and Tim Yamauchi, will lead the audience through an exciting selection of beloved songs.
The program will feature music from classic musicals such as Grease, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Man of La Mancha, and West Side Story, alongside contemporary favorites from Rent, Mamma Mia! and The Lion King. The evening will also include songs from movie musicals such as The Greatest Showman, La La Land, and Barbie.

Sierra Streams Institute is hosting a bioblitz to celebrate the natural world we live in, and the unique watersheds that make Nevada City so unique by making observations using iNaturalist. A bioblitz is a gathering of people working together to find, identify and document as many different species as possible which is easy to do on your own using the iNaturalist application. This bioblitz is self guided and our community to add their observations through iNaturalist (including animals, fungi, plants, and insects) to this project page.
The data you collect can be used by scientists and environmentalists to understand the rich biodiversity of Deer Creek.
