Harvest Days
Modoc Garden is a student centered space for getting outside, meeting new people, and taking a break from the usual campus routine. Throughout the semester, we host garden work days, harvest events, and relaxed community hangouts that are open to all students no gardening experience required. Whether you want to learn how to grow food, volunteer a little time, or just enjoy being outside, there’s a place for you here.
Our events are low pressure and welcoming. You can show up for as long as you want, get your hands in the dirt, and learn alongside other students who are also figuring things out as they go. We believe gardens are about more than plants they’re about connection, care, and community.

Community Hang Out Days
Modoc Garden is a great way to unplug, touch grass (literally), and do something that feels good for both you and the campus. Come solo or bring a friend, and leave with fresh air, good vibes, and sometimes even fresh produce.

Campus Talk & Book Signing
Save the date! On Wed April 22, 2026 from 12-1:30 in El Dorado Hall (CSUCI), Marla A. Ramírez (Assistant Prof at University of Wisconsin-Madison) is giving a talk on her new book, Banished Citizens: A History of the Mexican American Women Who Endured Repatriation. The book is a moving portrait of a grim period in American immigration history--from 1921 to 1944-- when approximately one million ethnic Mexicans― mostly women and children who were US citizens―were forced to relocate across the southern border through what officials called “repatriation,” when it was in fact banishment. Co-sponsored by the Chicana/o Studies Department, the Center for Community Engagement, and IRA.

CSUCI Paddle Pass
The CSUCI Paddle Pass is your free ticket to adventure on the water. Exclusively for currently enrolled CSU Channel Islands students, the Paddle Pass offers free weekday access to kayaks and stand-up paddleboards at the Channel Islands Boating Center, located right in the Channel Islands Harbor. Whether you’re looking for a quick study break, a new way to stay active, or a peaceful paddle, the Paddle Pass makes it easy to get out on the water.
Getting started is simple. Students must be currently enrolled at CSUCI, complete a 15-minute safety talk each semester you join, and sign a liability waiver and Paddle Pass agreement. Once completed, you can drop in during Paddle Pass hours and check out equipment at no cost. Housing Accommodations
Students seeking housing accommodations for the 2026–2027 academic year can begin the process now through Disability Accommodations and Support Services (DASS). To be considered, students must first apply for on-campus housing through Housing & Residential Education (HRE), gather any required supporting documentation from a qualified professional, and complete the DASS Housing Accommodations Application. Because accommodations are subject to availability, students who submit all materials by the posted priority deadlines will be reviewed first. Returning residents must apply by March 27, new residents by May 15, and summer 2026 applicants by April 10. Once documentation is received, students will meet with a DASS counselor to determine appropriate housing accommodations. For detailed instructions, documentation guidance, priority consideration dates, and direct application links, visit our site.
