Wildwoman
Single Events
In Wildwoman, we follow the story of Catherine de Medici, the young newlywed of King Henry II of France, who thinks her life at court will be a fascinating forum of political discourse. Instead, the palace is a cruel and disturbing place where her singular function is to be a baby-making machine for male heirs. Even the other women at her side, a scheming lady-in-waiting and the king’s power-hungry mistress, seem to mostly fend for themselves. The only kinship she finds is with the paperback-romance hot, head-to-toe hair wildman kept in the dungeon as one of the king’s collection of caged oddities. His friendly and feral presence gradually awakens Catherine’s own wild side, and once she unleashes it, no one is safe from her vengeful wrath.

The Firehall Arts Centre presents the world premiere of Canadian Psycho this spring from Tuesday, March 31 to Sunday, April 12, 2026.
What came first, the psychological crime thriller… or the crime itself? While Hollywood congratulates itself on “diversity” the juiciest, darkest, most complex roles still seem reserved for white men — because they’re based on the world’s most infamous people: American serial killers. There’s only one way to change that…
Blending original electronic music, dynamic movement and striking video design, this satirical solo show, produced by Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre (vAct) and ITSAZOO Productions, is a provocative takedown of the model minority myth and an unhinged interrogation of who gets to be seen, centered, and mythologized.
Playwright Marlene Ginader adds, “Mostly, it’s about a half-Asian woman who’s frustrated by the lack of inclusion in the serial killer space, and is finally ready to do something about it.”.

The Verdict
Single Events
Frank Galvin has seen better days. A veteran lawyer who lost his way, he's handed what looks like an easy case, a straightforward medical malpractice suit nobody expects him to win. Up against the unforgiving medical establishment, he courageously refuses an out of court settlement, believing it is negligence that has condemned a young mother. Convinced there is a cover up, he instead takes the case and the entire legal system to court…
Based upon Barry Reed’s 1980 novel, which in turn was made into a highly successful film starring Paul Newman, The Verdict is billed as a ‘courtroom drama’ although it has many traits of a thriller as well. Expect twists, turns and more than a few surprises along the way.

Petite Ondine
Single Events
Deep in the sea, Petite Ondine, daughter of the King of the oceans, feels like a stranger among her own kind. Her only wish is to discover the world above. But in the kingdom of mermaids, swimming on the surface is forbidden until the age of fifteen. She secretly goes to the Witch of the Seas, the only one who can grant her wish. The sorceress issues a warning: in order to reach land, she will have to give up a part of herself. Will she find her place among humans?
Anaïs Pellin freely revisits Andersen’s famous fairy tale, peppering it with a touch of feminist emancipation. Using object theatre and an enchanting musical score, this coming-of-age story explores self-discovery and the choice of one’s destiny through a heroine obsessed with independence who stretches the confines of a life too narrow for her.

La Convivialité
Single Events
It all begins with a dictation. For some, an ordeal. For others, a chance to shine. Fortunately, this dictation is not marked. Then comes the confusion: why does “redcurrants” require an “s” in French for the jam, but not for the jelly? Had you noticed that the verb “alourdir” meaning “to burden” is written with a single ‘l’ while “alléger” “to lighten” takes two? A technical tool disguised as a marker of prestige, institutionalized spelling unleashes passions and bolsters the powerful. But maybe this is all a huge misunderstanding.
Led by a duo of linguists who joyfully make light of this weighted debate, this pop and subversive show shakes up the dogmas surrounding written norms… and with them, centuries of status quo. By deconstructing their arbitrary origins and fascinating absurdities, La Convivialité profanes the sacro-saint rules, and questions our strange persistence in attempting to comply.
Presented in French only.

Kevin
Single Events
A high school geography class. Despite the teacher’s explanations, Kevin is unable to sort out his map based on the cardinal points drawn on the whiteboard. His teachers are at a loss: why can’t this student grasp such a basic lesson? Twenty years later, this failure marks the beginning of a series of investigations into educational success and equal opportunity.
Following their small French spelling revolution (La Convivialité), Arnaud Hoedt and Jérôme Piron take on school. Slyly casual and deliciously facetious, the two former teachers point fingers at the flaws of a multi-tiered education system. A light-hearted lecture, this playful show-slash-conference unpacks the workings of an invisible selection process that favours students with the right academic background from the outset… and leaves the others by the wayside.

Grande Ourse – Petite Ourse (Baby Space Opera)
Single Events
An ode to the night sky, Grande Ourse — Petite Ourse (Baby Space Opera) draws from the very first moments of a newborn baby in the vastness of the cosmos. Like a star born in the heart of a nebula, this tiny life, barely beginning, turns the expansive world around it upside down. Underneath the celestial dome, twinkling stars dance together, beckoning the little ones to play. What stories do the constellations have to tell?
With Grande Ourse — Petite Ourse, as if caught up by gravity, we dive right into the heart of a captivating investigation of the senses. Intertwined in a suspended moment of poetry, ethereal projections, iridescent lights and gentle melodies beckon dreamers to an escape. Born from a creative process involving families at several stages, this show for babies welcomes us to a collective meditation on our place in the infinite universe.

The Producers
Single Events
Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks' classic cult comedy film. Now as a big Broadway musical, The Producers once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humour. It is a truly "boffo" hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards and wows crowds night after night.
The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime for Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men…
Event Summary: A scheming producer and his mousy accountant aim to produce the biggest flop on Broadway in Mel Brooks' laugh-out-loud spectacle. Type of Event: Theatre Production. Production Company Name: Theatre in the Country. Event Dates and Times: June 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19 and 20
