Red Demon

Single Events The Firehall Arts Centre opens its 2026-2027 season with the Canadian premiere of Red Demon from Thursday, October 8 to Sunday, October 18, 2026.   What keeps us from embracing those who are different? Can humanity ever truly coexist without prejudice or discrimination?   Written by Hideki Noda and translated by Roger Pulvers with adaptations by Mayumi Yoshida, Red Demon explores themes of xenophobic fears of immigration and society's struggle with intolerance by telling the story of a creature who washes up on the shore of a small beach town where no one understands him. The Array: Supermassive Black Hole

Single Events Now in its sixth instalment, The Array continues to draw inspiration from recent discoveries in science. This year’s theme: the discovery of a single, supermassive black hole that puts into question the history of the universe as we thought we knew it. “This new black hole, which is as heavy as 50 million suns…clashes with the old, provisional account of the galaxy formation process, which did not start with black holes. Black holes were thought to have come along only after a galaxy’s stars gravitationally collapsed into black holes that then merged and grew.
