Community Outreach

At Penn Medicine, our commitment to care extends into the heart of our city’s neighborhoods. In that spirit, we’ve created this calendar to connect the expertise and energy of Penn Medicine employees with local nonprofits hosting events that uplift and support our shared community.
Whether you're passionate about health or enjoy bringing people together, there’s an opportunity for you. We invite all Penn Medicine employees and Penn students to browse and choose an event that speaks to you.
If you sign up for a health-related event, our office will work with you to create a table presentation, complete with health education materials and giveaways. (No clinical background is necessary unless otherwise noted.) Volunteering is easy—and your participation makes a meaningful impact in advancing health equity in the communities we serve.

Million Dollar Bike Ride

The Penn Medicine Orphan Disease Center (ODC) will host the 12th Annual Million Dollar Bike Ride on Saturday, June 14, 2025 to raise money for rare disease research. The Million Dollar Bike Ride brings over 600 cyclists and volunteers to Penn’s campus to ride either 10, 32, or 72 miles starting in the city, and ranging across the Greater Philadelphia region. In eleven years, the MDBR’s 30+ teams have raised over $22 million to fund research grants on the diseases they represent. Volunteers are needed to help with parking, registration, pep team, driver SAG support, clean up and event tent.   shifts are available: 6am - 9am, 9am - noon, noon - 4pm.  Register as a volunteer at the below link and enter your preferred shift times and volunteers locations.  Family and friends, 18years old and older are welcomed.  Thank you! Juneteenth Celebration

Penn Museum is celebrating Juneteenth by offering free admission for everyone. R.O.S.E.B.U.D.S. stands for Realizing Our Strength and Excellence By Understanding our Destined Success, and is a mentoring program for girls aged 7 to 18 in Philadelphia. Millennial Juneteenth Festival

Millennial Juneteenth is a not for profit organization that strives for the liberation of Black people through the planning and coordination of cultural programming, which serves to highlight the significance of political awareness, mental health education, and the promotion of economic empowerment in our community. One Table, One Hour High School STEM Enrichment

The PSOM Office of Outreach, Education, & Research is inviting clinical or research departments and labs to host "one table for one hour" to showcase their work/career to visiting summer high schoolers! An activity or demo is preferable to engage with students. The format is that of a fair, where high schoolers can mingle and walk about and visit the tables. Chosen 300 Ministries serves meals to homeless throughout the week at 3 locations in the region.  15 volunteers are needed to help on Wednesday evenings at this Spring Garden location. Gift of Life Dinner Prep

10 volunteers are needed to help prepare a welcoming, nutritious meal for the organ donors and their families who stay as Gift of Life guests at Howie's House.
