ERICD's Earth Month Seedling Sale Prep Day

Cleanups ~ Surveys ~ Workdays Help us sort seedlings for our seedling sale! Our seedling sale plant pick up day is on April 20. The day before, on April 19, we pack the pre-orders together to make it easier to give to customers when they come pick them up on Saturday. The volunteering consists of sorting the seedlings together into bundles of five, packing them in compostable bags with soil. Stay for as short as long as you want between 10AM-1PM! Children's Activities Don't know what to do with the family during the school vacation break? Audubon is the solution! Join us for fun for all ages. Special programs and activities are available each day and are free with admission. Registration is not required. Nature crafts will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, as well as a Nature Story at 10:00 a.m. animal interviews at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Special programs for children are also available each day at 1:00 p.m. Special programs are recommended for children ages 6+. Spring' on Over to Prudence Island!

Tours & Field Trips (also see Outdoors) Come celebrate the longer and (hopefully) warmer days by exploring Prudence Island, a hidden gem in the middle of Narragansett Bay. Explore whatever areas Mother Nature deems suitable for travel, which will likely include forest, salt marsh and shoreline, both on foot and via passenger van. With an afternoon low tide, we'll stop by the south end of the island to look for any late-season basking harbor seals just offshore. Spring birds will have begun arriving, so we'll enjoy birding time, too. Expect to cover 3-4 miles by foot throughout the day. What to Bring: lunch/drinks for the day; binoculars (we have extra binoculars); comfortable footwear. Reservations are required due to limited van space. Depart on the 9:45 am ferry from Bristol and return on the 4:15pm ferry from Prudence. Ferry crossing time is 30 minutes. Ferry ticket is not included in the price and is approximately $12/person. Rhode Island Climate Stocktake

The gathering will take place at the exquisite Waterfire Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, aiming to provide a comprehensive view of the energy transition from both global and local standpoints. Key focal points encompass entrepreneurship, infrastructure investing, insights post-COP28 from Dubai, and perspectives from Rhode Island, firmly anchored against the RI Act on Climate. This lens includes viewpoints from legislators, corporations, venture capitalists, Departments of Energy, and Environmental Management, among others.. Despite its small size, Rhode Island has made significant strides in the clean energy transition, punching well above its weight. Homeschool Days at Blithewold

Children's Activities Join us on the last Tuesday of each month from September through May for fun (and educational) hands-on learning at Blithewold! This year we will offer programs in Science, History, and Art. Each month, we will begin by collecting data for Cornell University’s Lab of Orthinology (Birds) to help scientists track changes in bird populations across the globe. Indoor and outdoor learning experiences in Science, History, and the Arts complete our curriculum, which aligns with RI, MA, and CT state standards. Between sessions, there is plenty of time to enjoy a nice picnic or run out some energy on the Great Lawn. Sensory Forest Bathing Walk

Outdoors ~ Walks ~ Hikes ~ Paddles ~ Cruises ~ (also see Tours) Shinrin-Yoku originated in Japan, and literally means "to bathe in the atmosphere of the forest". This practice has been adopted in the West as the term "Forest Bathing". This walk will be different than most walks- a gentle walk, of about a ½ a mile, with guided activities to connect with nature using our different senses. Opportunities for silence/meditation will be woven in with quiet, inquiry based investigation, to engage both the right and left hemispheres of our brains. We will practice being present, to help reduce inner mind chatter and the stress of a busy, modern world. Homeschool Days at Blithewold

Children's Activities Join us on the last Tuesday of each month from September through May for fun (and educational) hands-on learning at Blithewold! This year we will offer programs in Science, History, and Art. Each month, we will begin by collecting data for Cornell University’s Lab of Orthinology (Birds) to help scientists track changes in bird populations across the globe. Indoor and outdoor learning experiences in Science, History, and the Arts complete our curriculum, which aligns with RI, MA, and CT state standards. Between sessions, there is plenty of time to enjoy a nice picnic or run out some energy on the Great Lawn. Students are to check in at the Visitor Center and 1 adult chaperone is required to remain on the property until pick up. Please pack a lunch, it will be enjoyed from 11:30 to 12:00. Buzzards Bay Swim

The Buzzards Bay Swim is a one-of-a-kind, scenic, point-to-point open water swim across outer New Bedford Harbor benefiting the Buzzards Bay Coalition. Assisted by a robust safety patrol, swimmers navigate 1.2 miles through the harbor and channel, passing the iconic Butler Flats Lighthouse and New Bedford Hurricane Barrier. Swimmers are welcomed to the finish in Fairhaven with a beach party featuring live music, cooked to order pancakes, hot coffee and local beer! Your $25 registration fee and $300 fundraising minimum also includes shuttle service, swim cap, event tee, and a locally custom-made finisher’s medal.
