SMU Industry Masterclass: Inside Private Equity: How It Works, Creates Value, and Is Changing
Private equity has become a major pillar of global finance, yet it remains widely misunderstood. In this 90-minute Masterclass, Prof. Yin Wang, PhD, and Prof. Steve Balaban, CFA will take participants inside the world of private equity—from how PE funds work and create value to fund structures, returns, the J-curve, liquidity, and risk.
Moving beyond the fundamentals, the session will explore, from a global perspective, some of the most important developments reshaping private markets today, including the rapid growth of secondaries and recent PE portfolio rebalancing by major US university endowments.
