Lakeshore Library celebrates Archaeology Month with a screening of "The Stones Are Speaking" on Friday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. This full-length theatrical documentary tells the inspiring story of archaeologist Mike Collins, who, at great risk and personal sacrifice, saved 30 acres of looted land deep in the heart of Texas and revealed it as one of the most significant sites in the Americas. Collins and his team changed history when they found evidence of people living in Central Texas 20,000 years ago. The film is more than a simple tale of discoveries at the Gault Archaeological Site. It illustrates the power of an individual to make a difference and what people can accomplish when they come together for the greater good. This program is free and open to the public. The Highland Lakes VFW Post 6974 hosts charity bingo Mondays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.; sale starts at 5 p.m. Early birds begin at 6 p.m.; includes 6 games at $1 per card that pays $50 and 1 double action game at $2 per card that pays $100. Regular games start at 7 p.m. and payouts are roughly 75 percent of pay-ins. There are 7 regular games that come in packets with 3, 6, or 12 cards per page at $8, $15, and $20, respectively. Regular games start at 7 p.m. and payouts are roughly 75 percent of pay-ins. There are 7 regular games that come in packets with 3, 6, or 12 cards per page at $8, $15, and $20, respectively. The Highland Lakes VFW Post 6974 hosts charity bingo Mondays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.; sale starts at 5 p.m. Early birds begin at 6 p.m.; includes 6 games at $1 per card that pays $50 and 1 double action game at $2 per card that pays $100. Regular games start at 7 p.m. and payouts are roughly 75 percent of pay-ins. There are 7 regular games that come in packets with 3, 6, or 12 cards per page at $8, $15, and $20, respectively. There are also 3 speed mini-games at $1 per card. The VFW tries to play as many pull tabs as it can get in a session that range from $100 to $1,000 payouts. Kitchen open with food and snacks; canteen serves beer and wine.
