Founded in 1970 by Ray Benson, the band moved to Austin in the early ’70s and quickly became a cornerstone of the Texas music scene. With their signature blend of country, swing, boogie-woogie, and roots music, they’ve carried the torch for a uniquely American sound across countless miles of touring and more than 20 albums.
The accolades speak for themselves: nine Grammy Awards, more than 20 singles on the Billboard country charts, and recognition as the Best Touring Band by the Academy of Country Music. Their 1975 hit “The Letter That Johnny Walker Read” remains a classic, while collaborations with legends from Willie Nelson to Lyle Lovett have cemented their place in music history.

Join us for a fun-filled and all-inclusive day with a variety of accessible activities.
Meet us in Central Park at 10 am and learn how Texas State Parks are here for everyone.
Adaptive activities will include:
Paddling: We will have a kayak transfer chair to help you get on the water and boat rental fees will be waived during this event.
Birding: Learn to bird by sight and sound with an amazing park volunteer.
Fishing: The TPWD derby pond will be set up and stocked with over 200 catfish. Anglers will be able to keep their catches up to a limit, TBD. Bring an ice chest or cooler to take your fish home to eat!!! A local game warden will be on site to answer your hunting and fishing questions. There will be adaptive fishing equipment available for use.
Educational Exhibits: Volunteers will host a variety of fun and educational programs and exhibits.
Archery: Archery instructors will guide you through this fun activity taking aim at various targets. Adaptive archery equipment is available.
