Vacancy to Vitality: Exploring Housing Futures along San Antonio’s Transit Corridors
Central
How can San Antonio grow while protecting its land and communities? This exhibition by faculty and students at UT San Antonio’s School of Architecture + Planning explores how multifamily infill housing along VIA’s proposed ART corridors could meet the city’s 25-year housing need without paving new land or displacing existing residents. Using maps, data visualizations, and housing design prototypes, it reimagines aging commercial corridors as vibrant, connected neighborhoods.
The exhibition features maps, data visualizations, and housing design prototypes that demonstrate how transit-oriented multifamily infill can create a more connected, sustainable, and equitable city.
Supported by the SOM Foundation, City of San Antonio, and San Antonio Area Foundation.

Biblio Babble
Encino
Readers, this is for you! Come babble about a different book on the first Saturday of each month at the Encino Branch Library. You deserve to read a little every day! And then you deserve to meet other readers and talk about it!
Our January Biblio Babble selection is Wintering by Katherine May, a series of themed essays about the winter season and its ability to serve as a time for retreat and restoration. May experiences several significant life difficulties in a span of 6 months and draws into herself where she begins to learn the healing powers of cold and quiet. She traces events that happen between September and March as she weathers winter through a mix of traditions. From passing the winter solstice at Stonehenge to participating in polar bear plunges to experiencing Finnish saunas, the author explores how so many are able to find strength and beauty in the harsh and stark time that is Winter. In Wintering, May models acceptance of sadness and finds nourishment and joy in the hushed beauty of the dark…
