What is a Nicho Box?

Nichos, also known as retablos, are a type of folk art popular throughout Latin America. They are often devotional, but also quirky and include images of pop culture figures. Resembling dioramas, nichos are made from common household objects and craft materials. They are usually painted with striking colors, often contrasting bright and dark, and tend towards garish. Within the box, there is a central figure or object for whose honor the nicho has been created. Who will you honor?
