Vacancy to Vitality: Exploring Housing Futures along San Antonio’s Transit Corridors
Central
How can San Antonio grow while protecting its land and communities? This exhibition by faculty and students at UT San Antonio’s School of Architecture + Planning explores how multifamily infill housing along VIA’s proposed ART corridors could meet the city’s 25-year housing need without paving new land or displacing existing residents. Using maps, data visualizations, and housing design prototypes, it reimagines aging commercial corridors as vibrant, connected neighborhoods.
The exhibition features maps, data visualizations, and housing design prototypes that demonstrate how transit-oriented multifamily infill can create a more connected, sustainable, and equitable city.

Supported by the SOM Foundation, City of San Antonio, and San Antonio Area Foundation.
