Join us for the opening reception for Larry Graeber's exhibit Silent Drift. In this exhibit, Larry Graeber has compiled paintings, sculpture and works on paper depicting subjects of experiences and encounters. Resorting to beaches, deserts and the big skies of Texas as places and friends and acquaintances as personalities. Graeber has sought to engage their influences and character to develop these works as physical memories, Inquisitive and expressive, observational and intuitive, these work depict memories and the inevitability of change. The landscapes serve as more than mere backdrops but narratives unto themselves. Likewise, the portraits not traditional character studies, but momentary impressions, capturing transient qualities of specificity. Time is the essential element, nothing is static, but in a continual flux of a silent drift. Ultimately, Graeber invites the audience to engage actively with these works, encouraging them to bring their own memories and experiences into dialogue with the work. Dissecting the Westside Side Sound

***Registration is required*** What is the Westside Sound? Born on San Antonio's West Side in the mid-1950s, this groundbreaking musical style blended influences and talent across communities to create a sound that would captivate audiences across the United States and Europe in the 1960s. But who were the pioneering musicians behind it? What made its signature blend of keyboards, saxophone, drums, and soulful rhythms so distinctive? And how was it revived decades later by one of Texas' most celebrated quartets? Discover the answers in this special conversation moderated by Jose Arredondo featuring two Westside Sound pioneers—Grammy Award winner Sunny Ozuna of the Sunliners and Frank Rodarte of the Dell-Kings and Los Blues—along with Ramón Hernández, the historian who has documented the movement's remarkable legacy. Together, they'll explore the origins, evolution, and enduring impact of one of San Antonio's most influential musical traditions. Branch Location: Central Library.
