AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Continuing Medical Education (CME) University Health offers the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring courses. These evidence-based courses use a case-based approach to reinforce the principles of fetal heart monitoring and enhance participants’ ability to analyze complex clinical information and fetal monitoring tracings. Course content emphasizes the physiology of fetal-maternal oxygenation, identification of physiologically based clinical interventions, and best practices for communication and documentation. Participants receive Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) hours upon successful completion of the course requirements. These courses are recommended for perinatal clinicians every two years and may support preparation for, or maintenance of, professional certifications. Stop the Bleed Training

Stop the Bleed Unforeseen injuries can occur at any time, to any person - falling off a ladder, having a kitchen mishap or being involved in a car crash. Thankfully, anyone can be trained to help save lives. The goal of the Stop the Bleed program is to help people like you learn how to prevent deaths from traumatic bleeding. Become empowered to save a life and sign up for training to ‘stop the bleed.’ Training is 1 hour, First 30 minutes – lecture where all participants are together , Second 30 minutes – skills training with an instructor. Stop the Bleed Training

Stop the Bleed Unforeseen injuries can occur at any time, to any person - falling off a ladder, having a kitchen mishap or being involved in a car crash. Thankfully, anyone can be trained to help save lives. The goal of the Stop the Bleed program is to help people like you learn how to prevent deaths from traumatic bleeding. Become empowered to save a life and sign up for training to ‘stop the bleed.’ Training is 1 hour, First 30 minutes – lecture where all participants are together , Second 30 minutes – skills training with an instructor. Students will be asked to demonstrate wound packing and tourniquet placement. Childbirth Preparation Class

Birth & Infant Care This is a two-day, in-person weekend event that runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM each day, Saturday and Sunday. You must complete parts 1 and 2 to finish the course.This event is for the pregnant client and one adult labor support person. Additional persons and children are not allowed at this event. This event requires that the pregnant client is NOT a high-risk pregnancy. Please verify with OB Physician providing prenatal care that it is safe to participate. This event also requires that the pregnant client is at least 28 weeks pregnant at the time of participation. This event does not provide meals, drinks, or snacks. Childcare is not provided. For their safety, children are not allowed to stay at this event. We recommend rescheduling to a different date if childcare arrangements are not possible. A parking fee applies, but validation may be available after class.
