Graduate Writing Retreat: Writing Internal Fellowships

Join our writing retreat focused on Internal Fellowship applications on December 5th from 9 AM to 12 PM. Open to Graduate Students at any stage of the writing process, this retreat will cover strategies for building a cohesive and compelling internal fellowship application. A 30 minute presentation by Graduate Writing Fellow Mattea Berglund will be followed by open writing time, during which Mattea will be available for one-on-one assistance on your application. There is no requirement to attend the retreat for the entire 3 hours. Attendees are encouraged to sign up for one-on-one appointments with a Graduate Writing Fellow for more extensive personalized feedback on their applications using this link.

Complete Conflict Competence Training for Graduate Students and Postdocs

While conflict is inevitable, how we respond to it helps to shape how it develops. With proven conflict management techniques, you can minimize the negative impact of conflict, keep relationships on track and lower your stress. In this live workshop, you will learn and practice strategies to effectively prevent and manage conflict. Techniques covered include: de-escalating emotionally-charged situations, successfully communicating your needs and lowering others’ defenses. You will have the opportunity to put these strategies into practice by developing approaches to realistic conflict scenarios.

Road to Grad Slam: Info Session
GradPathways Presentation Skills
Grad Slam is an annual contest in which master’s and Ph.D. students across UC campuses – in all disciplines ranging from natural sciences to the arts and humanities – compete to introduce their research to a general audience.
Participants are judged on how well they engage the audience, how clearly they communicate key concepts and how effectively they focus and present their ideas—all in three minutes or less.
