Herbicide Groups and How They Relate to Herbicide Resistance – Doug Finkelnburg, University of Idaho Extension
Finkelnburg examines the classification of herbicides into distinct groups based on their modes of action, such as Group 1 (ACCase inhibitors) and Group 9 (EPSP synthase inhibitors). The focus is on exploring the role that herbicide groups play in the development of weed resistance. Through real-world case studies, the speaker shows that employing herbicides from varying groups can help mitigate the emergence of resistance. This webinar is open to anyone interested in pesticides, bees and plant-pollinator interactions. Bees in suburban gardens, urban settings and agricultural lands commonly encounter pesticides in the nectar and pollens of the plants they visit.
The presenter's research explores how these chemicals can have effects on bee health and behavior, both on their own and in combination with naturally-occurring nectar chemicals.
