Beta Mental Health Awareness: To the Max

Dept. of Student Involvement One thing that is very important to our chapter is mental health. This week is dedicated to raising awareness and money for mental health and suicide prevention. We would also like to dedicate this week to Max Fulfer and other Beta Theta Pi fraternity members who have lost the battle with their mental health. Annually around 1,100 college students commit suicide. It is the 2nd most common cause of death for college students and the 4th leading cause of death in America and one that can be prevented. The money we raise will go to the Idaho Crisis and Suicide Hotline. Using the 988 hotline number to text or call has been found to reduce the severity of the situation in 98% of the cases. We as a fraternity want to donate to a cause that is actively preventing suicide and bring awareness to their cause to prevent further deaths. Hosted by: Beta Theta Pi. Stop by the tabling fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the ISUB Plaza for more information and to join in our campus photo at noon. Why Denim? The campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.
