Utahns’ Perceptions of the Challenges Facing Women and Girls

College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences During the fall of 2023, Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) researchers conducted a statewide study to establish a baseline of public perceptions related to the awareness, understanding, and attitudes around challenges facing Utah women and girls. The 80-question survey provided baseline data needed by leaders of A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) and all Utahns interested in helping ensure that Utah girls and women better thrive. This webinar will highlight many of the results. The survey focused on the following areas: education (finance, higher education attainment, and K-12 initiatives); community engagement (political representation, boards and commissions, and civic engagement/ advocacy); safety and security (child sexual abuse, domestic violence, poverty and homelessness, sexual assault, and sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination); health and wellbeing (health across the lifespan and home and family); and workplace (childcare/pre-K programs, entrepreneurship, gender pay gap, leadership developm… Venue Name: Online/Virtual. LAEP Speaker Series: Chris Creasey

College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences Intersections of Practice: A Candid Conversation on Career Paths About the Lecture: What inspires you and drives your future career path? How does that inspired career intersect with your personal life? In this dialog, we’ll look at the differences between public and private sector practice in Landscape Architecture through a project-focused lens. Creasey will focus on providing transparent information and a wide variety of example projects to help new graduates make informed decisions about their future careers. Speaker Bio: Chris Creasey is a Landscape Architect with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District focused on large-scale interdisciplinary civil works and military projects throughout the Midwest and Mountain West. Utah Aeronautics Open House

College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences Aviation and Aeronautics industry partners will be hosting the annual Aviation Open House at the Delta Airlines Hangar at the Salt Lake International Airport on Saturday April 27th. This event is for all ages but is geared specifically to allow youth and those interested to explore the many possibilities and offerings in the aviation industry. Activities, multiple aircraft static displays, information tables, and so much more make this an event not to be missed. A Bolder Way Forward 2nd Annual Summit

College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences The 2nd Annual A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) Summit focuses on making Utah a place where more girls and women can thrive in any setting (e.g. home, workplace, congregation, and community). This movement, launched in June 2023, focuses on creating societal change in Utah. Year after year, WalletHub continues to rank Utah last in the nation for women’s equity, and national and statewide studies continue to show that women and girls in Utah are not thriving in critical areas. Although the needle has moved slightly in a few areas, with its current trajectory it will take three or even four decades to make notable progress. It is time for Utah to embrace a BWF, because when we lift Utah girls and women, we lift all Utahns! For the past year, 18 areas of focus (spokes) have been organized and determined their vision, goals, and metrics. An additional 12 impact team have been created to assist with issues that permeate across and influence each area of focus. Warriors over the Wasatch - Hill AFB Air Show

College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences Join USU Aviation Technology at the Warriors Over the Wasatch Air Show at Hill Air Force Base! USU Aviation will have three static displays at the show: the DA62, an R44, and the 172 Top Hawk. The Aggie Drone Academy will be running a drone cage in the STEM building as well. If you're an aviation enthusiast, this is THE event in Utah not to miss.
