Fine Arts & Communications Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat February 27, 28, 29 & March 5, 6, 7, 2020 Lyrics by Tim Rice Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber Directed by Brad Olsen One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors. Told entirely through song with the help of a main character Narrator, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Pharaoh. Fine Arts & Communications The Odyssey April 15, 16, 17, 18, 2020 Adapted and Originally Directed by Mary Zimmerman Adapted from the Translation of The Odyssey by Robert Fitzgerald Directed by Trent Bean Mary Zimmerman brings her amazing and unique talents to Homer’s The Odyssey, an epic tale that covers a journey home spanning 10 years, compete with monsters, gods, and human foibles.  This dramatic adaptation of Homer's myth begins with a modern young woman who is struggling to understand Robert Fitzgerald's translation of "The Odyssey." A classical muse appears, and the young woman becomes the goddess Athena--a tireless advocate for Odysseus in his struggle to get home. With her trademark irreverent and witty twist on classic works, Zimmerman brings to life the story of Odysseus's ten-year journey, depicting his encounters with characters such as Circe, the Cyclops, Poseidon, Calypso, the Sirens, and others.
