Utah Symphony Tchaikovsky’s “Pathétique” Symphony & Fauré’s Requiem
Arts & Culture
Be there for Maestro Markus Poschner’s first-ever performance in Ogden—an unforgettable evening with the Utah Symphony that pairs two powerful works of beauty, sorrow, and soul. This is more than just a concert—it’s a moment. And you’re invited.
Tchaikovsky’s final work, the Pathétique Symphony, is a masterclass in emotion—stormy, tender, and aching with shifting speeds and keys—and that’s just the first movement. From the opening notes, it’s clear this is a lament, though the composer never reveals what—or who—he’s grieving. Originally titled The Passionate Symphony in Russian, every moment rings true to the name. Balancing that intensity is Fauré’s Requiem—a luminous, meditative work that feels like a soft exhale. More comfort than drama, this beloved piece washes over you with its gentle melodies and peaceful spirit.

Anomalies – Suzanne Sbarge
Arts & Culture
Anomalies is a solo exhibition by New Mexico-based artist Suzanne Sbarge, Ogden Contemporary Arts’ 2025 Artist-in-Residence. The exhibition features hybrid creatures within landscapes that reference Ogden and Utah and is inspired by the last 150 years of people settling on the edge of the harsh salty environment of the Great Salt Lake. Sbarge incorporates vintage photographs along with living, extinct, or imagined fauna and flora to explore how human existence is inseparable from nature, and to reflect on our delicate ecosystem.
Sbarge highlights fluidity and interconnection across humans, animals, genders, time, dimensions, and art mediums. She says, “In science, anomalies highlight errors, rare events, or entirely new phenomena. This exhibition looks at the animals of Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake through the lens of my imagination, where stories of loss and renewal play out in and around the shrinking, enclosed body of salt water in the high desert.”

ALABAMA STORY
Nov. 7, 8 & 12-15 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
By Kenneth Jones
Inspired by true events, Alabama Story is a powerful and timely play that explores censorship, civil rights, and the transformative power of literature. Set in 1959 Montgomery, it follows a no-nonsense librarian who refuses to remove a children’s book from the shelves—despite political pressure. A stirring story of resilience, unexpected friendships, and the fight for intellectual freedom.

Something Rotten!
Arts & Culture
Presented Through Arrangement With Music Theatre International
October 3 - November 15, 2025
Directed by Kristin Callor
Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Ogden Musical Theatre Presents: A Christmas Carol
Arts & Culture
Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!" Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

For this new body of work, Sbarge has expand…
