Canyoneering

Join OA for some introductory canyoneering in the beautiful sandstone canyons of Southern Utah. North Wash is the home to some of the most beautiful, exciting canyons in the state. This trip includes deep, twisting narrows, multiple rappels, and some thrilling downclimbs. Trip cost covers gear, instruction, transportation, and equipment. Participants should be comfortable with heights and able to hike 5 miles. Our trips are designed to give participants the building blocks to further their knowledge and skills to apply it on their own adventures. This is a front-country trip: Our front-country trips are perfect for participants who are new to recreating in the outdoors. Participants will sleep in tents with easy access to our vehicles. Most of our front-country trips camp in established campgrounds with pit-toilets but with limited access to running water. Raft and Climb

Join Outdoor Adventures for a classic multi-sport excursion in Moab and explore the unique beauty of the desert with us! As Southern Utah begins to warm up, it is the perfect time to float the Colorado river and climb the sandstone rocks of the desert. This trip is perfect for beginners who take part in regular moderate physical activity. Trip costs include rentals, equipment, food, instruction/skills teaching from trip leaders, transportation, and all camping gear needed for the trip. Our trips are designed to give participants the building blocks to further their knowledge and skills to apply it on their own adventures. Backcountry Navigation

Ditch the GPS. Pick up a compass. Take control of your adventure. Our Backcountry Navigation Clinic is a hands-on, field-based course designed to give you the skills and confidence to travel safely and independently in remote terrain. Whether you're looking to take a backpacking course with OA in the future or take your friends on their first backcountry trip, this clinic will sharpen your map-and-compass skills and introduce essential techniques for navigating without digital devices. Clinic participants will leave the clinic with an understanding of the following: - Reading and interpreting topographic maps - Understanding contour lines, terrain features, and map scales - How to read and use a compass, plot bearings, and triangulate your position - Route planning for off-trail travel, including integrating GPS and digital tools responsibly- How to avoid getting lost—and what to do if you are. Backpacking is a beginner-friendly sport that allows participants to see nature’s beauty in a unique and personal way. This trip will involve hiking and carrying your gear from camp to camp. Our trips are designed to give participants the building blocks to further their knowledge and skills to apply it on their own adventures. Step into the night and discover nature in a whole new light. Our Full Moon Hiking Trip offers a unique experience where we will get to explore the classic trails we know and love by moonlight. Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape or a fresh adventure, this hike is the perfect way to reconnect with nature under the stars. No headlamps needed—just the glow of the full moon lighting your way (don’t worry, we’ll be bringing headlamps just in case it’s cloudy). Rock Climbing

Join OA on a climbing adventure in St. George. Enjoy the red rocks, open skies, and desert vibes. We will enjoy diverse climbs, eat delicious food, and sleep in tents under the wide-open sky! This trip is great for beginners who take part in regular moderate physical activity and want to explore outdoor climbing. During this trip, participants will learn the basics of outdoor rock climbing and how to front country camp. This trip is recommended for beginner to intermediate climbers. No prior experience is necessary; however, we do recommend that participants take a top-rope belay clinic at The Summit before attending in order to get the most out of this trip. Doesn't food always taste better when you are outside? We think so! Come join us for a clinic on how to make tasty meals in an outdoor setting. We'll go over the basics of Dutch oven, camp stove, and fire cooking all with an emphasis on safety. Arrive with an appetite as we'll be making a meal during the class! Clinic participants will leave the clinic with an understanding of the following: -The basics of meal planning for both frontcountry and backcountry trips -Correctly choosing a stove for specific outdoor situations-Special considerations of cooking in cold, hot, or windy conditions -Safety precautions for backcountry cooking-How to prepare a meal in both frontcountry and backcountry settings -Tips and tricks to make the entire process easier and quicker.
