Visiting Artist: Juana Estrada Hernández
Artist Bio:
Juana Estrada Hernández is a Mexican artist and Assistant Professor of Printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design. She received her MFA in Printmaking from the University of New Mexico and her BFA in Printmaking from Fort Hays State University. Estrada Hernández has exhibited her work across the United States, Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Poland. She has appeared in multiple publications including Migratory Yellow Pages, Hyperallergic Magazine, Printmaking Today, and on the Hello Print Friend podcast. Her work is held in several collections including those of the Janet Turner Print Museum, Chicago Printmakers Collaborative, Zygote Press Archives, Laval University, and Engramme, National Library and Archives of Québec.

Faculty Research Week Exhibition [U Arts Pass Event]
Walk through a pop-up exhibition of creative research by Department of Art & Art History faculty in the Gittins Gallery.
The gallery is open to all on Mon-Thurs from 9am-4pm and Fri from 9am-12pm.
The opening reception and short talks with faculty members will be held on Monday, September 21st from 5-7pm. Researchers will share their stories and methods behind the visual, 2D/3D, scholarship from our illustration, painting & drawing, photography, sculpture, and graphic design areas.

John O'Connell came to painting late, then spent the rest of his life making up for lost time. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, he grew up in a big Irish neighborhood in the urban Northeast and made his first painting at 28, following stints in engineering school, construction, and music. He studied at Massachusetts College of Art and the University of Connecticut, taught at Middle Tennessee State University, and joined the University of Utah faculty, where he was associate professor of Painting and Drawing for more than two decades.
