Full Moon Hike

Campus Recreation Services Step into the night and discover nature in a whole new light. Our Full Moon Hiking Trip offers a unique experience where we will get to explore the classic trails we know and love by moonlight. Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape or a fresh adventure, this hike is the perfect way to reconnect with nature under the stars. No headlamps needed—just the glow of the full moon lighting your way (don’t worry, we’ll be bringing headlamps just in case it’s cloudy). This is a frontcountry day trip: Our front-country trips are perfect for participants who are new to recreating in the outdoors. There will be limited access to running water or other modern amenities like pit toilets while on the adventure. Trip leaders will teach participants how to recreate while following Leave No Trace ethics. What's Included in the Trip Fee: Includes transportation, some snacks, and instruction from Trip Leaders. Parenting Student Conference

Big Cottonwood Day Climb

Campus Recreation Services Join OA on a day long climbing adventure in Big Cottonwood Canyon! Enjoy the dramatic rocks, open skies, and views of the canyon. We will enjoy diverse climbs and learn outdoor climbing safety skills! This trip is great for beginners who take part in regular moderate physical activity and want to explore outdoor climbing. Trip costs include climbing rentals, equipment, food, transportation, and all gear needed for the trip. Our trips are designed to give participants the building blocks to further their knowledge and skills to apply it on their own adventures. Weber River Float

Campus Recreation Services Spend the day kayaking the scenic Weber River - an easy going adventure combining sunshine, splashes, and lots of fun. This trip is perfect for anyone looking to float through a few rapids, swim in calm pools, and kick back with a fun crew of new faces. Along the way, we’ll stop to swim, snack, and hang out on the riverbanks. No experience needed. Whether you're ready to paddle hard or just along for the ride, this day trip is all about good vibes and river time to beat the heat. Trip costs include inflatable kayak rentals, equipment, some snacks, transportation, and all gear needed for the trip. Afternoon SUP

Campus Recreation Services Join OA for an afternoon of fun in the sun – while also learning how to stand-up paddleboard (SUP)! SUPing is a fun, low-consequence activity that is perfect for a toasty summer day. No experience is necessary, and our trip leaders will teach you all of the basics. Our Outdoor Equipment Rental shop rents out both inflatable and hard SUPs, so take the skills you learn on this trip and have the confidence to go out on your own! This is a front-country trip: Our front-country trips are perfect for participants who are new to recreating in the outdoors. What's Included in the Trip Fee: SUPs, PFDs, transportation, Trip Leader instruction, and other activity-specific gear (excludes personal clothing). Some snacks will be provided on this trip, and we will make a stop on the way home for some ice cream. Feel free to bring extra snacks if you wish. Wilderness Welcome 2026

Trips and Summit Dates: Saturday 8/15– Thursday 8/20 With early move in dates on August 14th, cost of early move in is included in trip cost  Trips: Uinta Backpacking, Moab Multi-Sport, Green River Rafting Start your first year at the University of Utah off right by joining Outdoor Adventures on one of our 6-day Wilderness Welcome Trips! These programs are designed specifically for incoming students. They provide new students with a unique and fun opportunity to challenge themselves, develop a community before starting college, and learn about what it means to be a Ute. For the incoming class of 2026, we are offering three different trips that get students out exploring the beautiful state of Utah. These trip itineraries are varied in difficulty to accommodate to all abilities, but none require previous experience. While on the trip, students will travel and live with their groups of 8-12 while being led by peer student leaders with a 4 to 1 ratio.
