Whitewater Rafting

Trips and Summit Join OA as we explore the beautiful Snake River just outside of Alpine WY! We will be spending two full days on the river enjoying the sunshine, learning how to run whitewater, hitting rapids, and spending time in nature. This river has many exciting, beginner-friendly rapids, and this trip is appropriate for novice and experienced whitewater paddlers. We will be front-country camping near the river and doing two separate day trips. This is a backcountry trip: Participants on this trip will sleep in tents and there will be no access to showers, running water, or other modern amenities. Trip leaders will teach participants how to dispose of waste properly by following Leave No Trace ethics. What's Included in the Trip Fee: transportation, all meals while at camp (participants will be responsible for meals during transportation), Trip Leader instruction, and activity-specific gear (excludes personal clothing and footwear). Chalk Art Festival " Vibes of Hope "

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month- a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized , & often taboo, topic.  The UCC uses this month to shift public perceptions, spread hope , and share vital information to our campus community . This is the UCC's 3rd year providing this event and our goal is ensuring that Students , Faculty, Staff , friends & Families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.  Suicide and Suicide attempts can contribute to lasting impacts on individuals , families, and communities.  The good news is that it is preventable.  Sidewalks are the ultimate canvas , and chalk art is a brilliant tool for messaging, as a space of expression, a way to brighten someone's day.  Collaborating with the UPC, CCW and the School of Fine Arts we hope to have a variety of sidewalk chalk messages filled with Hope, Love and positive vibes! Backpack and Climb

Trips and Summit Join OA to escape the Salt Lake City heat for a weekend and head to the Uinta Mountains! We will observe diverse ecosystems, camp near beautiful lakes, and sleep in tents under the stars. Backpacking is a beginner friendly sport that allows participants to see nature’s beauty in a unique and personal way. This trip will involve hiking and carrying your gear from camp to camp. This will also involve one day hiking to a climbing spot and spending the day rock climbing! Our trips are designed to give participants the building blocks to further their knowledge and skills to apply it on their own adventures. Rock Climbing

Trips and Summit Join OA for a weekend of rock climbing at City of Rocks, just over the Utah/Idaho border. City of Rocks is a mecca of climbing, varnished and pocketed granite is the name of the game here. The granite ages with an iron-based varnish on it and when the varnish wears through, it forms pockets that wear faster than the varnish. During this trip, participants will learn the basics of outdoor rock climbing and how to front country camp. This trip is recommended for beginner to intermediate climbers. No prior experience is necessary; however, we do recommend that participants take a top-rope belay clinic at The Summit before attending in order to get the most out of this trip. No lead climbing by participants is allowed. Along the way, we will learn how to read whitewater, how to carry-out a multi-day raft trip using OA's boat fleet, and what makes this section of river one of the most talked about rivers in the country. Intermediate Backpacking

Trips and Summit Join OA as we embark on a multi-day backpacking trip through the peaks of Great Basin National Park where we will build onto our current backpacking skills. We will observe diverse ecosystems of one of the country’s most unique national parks, challenge ourselves with new obstacles, and sleep under the stars in a Gold tier International Dark Sky Park. This trip will involve hiking and carrying your gear from camp to camp. This trip is great for participants with prior backpacking experience who are looking to challenge themselves in a new way. This challenge could include more difficult terrain or mileage, off-trail navigation, and/or limited resources. While it is not required that participants have attended an Outdoor Adventures’ Intro to Backpacking trip previous to this, it is strongly recommended. Bike Maintenance and Repair

Campus Recreation Services Learn to fix your bike, anywhere, anytime. Whether you're a daily commuter, weekend trail rider, or just dusting off your old bike, this fast-paced, hands-on clinic will give you the skills you need to handle common bike issues and keep your ride smooth and safe. In just two hours, our clinic instructors will walk you through essential maintenance techniques and quick roadside repairs—so you can ride with confidence and independence. Fall Break Sea Kayaking Expedition

Trips and Summit Adventure through canyon country by sea-kayak and discover Lake Powell's most remote and awe-inspiring canyons. For Fall Break 2025, we'll paddle crystal-clear waters beneath towering red cliffs, sleep on secluded beaches, and explore narrow slot canyons accessible only by watercraft. This expedition combines world-class paddling with backcountry hiking, stargazing, and true wilderness solitude. Our Backcountry Navigation Clinic is a hands-on, field-based course designed to give you the skills and confidence to travel safely and independently in remote terrain. Whether you're looking to take a backpacking course with OA in the future or take your friends on their first backcountry trip, this clinic will sharpen your map-and-compass skills and introduce essential techniques for navigating without digital devices.
