Research Tour - STARS Lab
This research tour of the STARS Lab will take place in room 509 of the William C. Browning Building (WBB). The STARS Lab studies how materials behave under extreme conditions relevant to aerospace, space exploration, and defense. Using high-speed impact testing and advanced characterization techniques, they explore how processing affects material structure and performance. See cutting-edge experiments and learn how materials science supports space and aerospace technologies.

When to Apply: Grants are considered monthly. Travel Grant and Small Grant applications are reviewed and applicants are notified of the outcome by the 7th day of every month. This means all applications (including the faculty mentor portion) must be submitted no later than the last day of the previous month. Grants are for future expenses only (applications submitted in the same month as the travel will not be accepted).

Research Tour - Speech Acquisition Lab
The Speech Acquisition Lab, located in LNCO 2945, explores questions about how languages' sound systems are learned by adults, such as: How do adult learners' multiple languages influence each other? Why are some new sounds harder for adults to learn than others? What sources of information do adult language learners draw on when learning a new sound system?

Undergraduate Research Scholar Designation (URSD) FINAL Deadline for Spring 2026
The Undergraduate Research Scholar Designation (URSD) recognizes a student’s commitment to their development as a researcher during their undergraduate career. The URSD appears in the awards section of the transcripts of graduating students. URSD awardees receive a white research cord from the Office of Undergraduate Research to wear at convocation and commencement. Apply the Semester you Graduate!

Dee Foundation Scholarship Application Deadline
The Lawrence T. Dee and Janet T. Dee Foundation was established by Lawrence Taylor and Janet Teller Dee in 1971 for the purpose of promoting charitable activities in Ogden and the surrounding area. It remains a family foundation dedicated to furthering the growth and well-being of the people of northern Utah.

Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters Scholarship (UASAL) Application Deadline
The Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters (UASAL) was founded in 1908 “to promote investigations and diffuse knowledge in all areas of science.” In 1933 UASAL expanded to include arts and letters and now supports scholarly work from fine arts to physics through our annual conference and peer-reviewed journal. This scholarship is open to any student at the University of Utah who is working on a research study with a faculty member with the intent to present original scholarly work at the Annual Conference of the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters. Students must be enrolled at the University of Utah during the semester of the conference.
