The Office of Undergraduate Research provides funding opportunities for students whose research requires travel or other support.   When to Apply: Grants are considered monthly. Travel Grant and Small Grant applications are reviewed and applicants are notified of the outcome by the 7th day of every month. This means all applications (including the faculty mentor portion) must be submitted no later than the last day of the previous month. The Early Exploration Scholars Program fosters student connections with faculty mentors. Early Exploration Scholars learn about research opportunities at the University of Utah and receive a $250 scholarship to explore connecting with prospective faculty mentors surrounding research.  The program provides opportunities to grow research interests early on in an academic journey. This tour will take place in room 202 in the HPER-East building. The College of Health Research Center offers a diverse range of research opportunities, focusing on human health and performance. The areas of research include: Sleep Circadian Physiology & Cognition, Exercise Intervention & Exercise Testing, Mobility & Stability, and Musculoskeletal Biomechanics. The tour covers various areas that are integral to Huntsman's cancer research goals.  It begins at the Primary Children’s and Families’ Cancer Research Center (HCI-South, 2000 Circle of Hope), renowned for its groundbreaking work in cancer treatment and prevention. This facility also houses the Utah Population Database, a critical resource for genetic research. Francis Family Scholarship Application Deadline

The John A. and Irene F. Francis Endowment Fund was established by John A. Francis in memory of his wife, Irene F. Francis, and to acknowledge the work of his son, John G. Francis, professor of political science at the University of Utah. The Francis Endowment Fund recognizes outstanding undergraduate researchers in the arts, social sciences, and the humanities. The availability of this program and number of scholarships offered may vary from year to year, depending on funding. Each Fall, students in their second semester of UROP or recently completed 2 semesters of UROP are invited to apply for a $1200 scholarship to support a third semester of research with the same faculty mentor during the following Spring semester. (Seniors graduating in the spring semester are also eligible to apply. Please note, priority will be given to students who have completed 2 semesters of UROP). Parent Fund Scholarship Application Deadline

The Parent Fund is sustained by parents and supports student-centered programs and initiatives. The Parent Fund plays an integral role in the University of Utah’s ability to provide students with exceptional opportunities inside and outside the classroom. The availability of this program and number of scholarships offered may vary from year to year, depending on funding. Each Fall, students in their second semester of UROP or recently completed 2 semesters of UROP are invited to apply for a $1200 scholarship to support a third semester of research with the same faculty mentor during the following Spring semester. (Seniors graduating in the spring semester are also eligible to apply. Please note, priority will be given to students who have completed 2 semesters of UROP). IRB Lab

The IRB Lab is a partnership with the University of Utah Institutional Review Board. The IRB Lab is a bimonthly open work session space for students to receive peer-mentoring and staff support when applying for Institutional Review Board approval. Spring Semester 2025 IRB Labs will take place every other Wednesday from 1:00-2:30 pm in the 2130N Marriott Library or via Zoom.  Click below link to register for the Zoom.
