Undergraduate Research Scholar Designation (URSD) FINAL Deadline for Spring 2026

The Undergraduate Research Scholar Designation (URSD) recognizes a student’s commitment to their development as a researcher during their undergraduate career. The URSD appears in the awards section of the transcripts of graduating students. OUR Awards Ceremony

Every year the Office of Undergraduate Research recognizes one undergraduate student researcher from each college/school with the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award.  This year's ceremony will take place at the Quincey College of Law and is by invitation only.  Everyone is invited to watch the livestream at our.utah.edu. Monthly Deadline to Apply for OUR Travel & Small Grants

The Office of Undergraduate Research provides funding opportunities for students whose research requires travel or other support.   When to Apply: Grants are considered monthly. Travel Grant and Small Grant applications are reviewed and applicants are notified of the outcome by the 7th day of every month. This means all applications (including the faculty mentor portion) must be submitted no later than the last day of the previous month. OUR Education Series: Summer Mentor Orientation

Faculty mentors will learn how transformational research experiences foster thinking practically and conceptually. The presenters will inspire faculty mentors to reflect on the transformational effects of undergraduate research. Dee Foundation Scholarship Application Deadline

The Lawrence T. Dee and Janet T. Dee Foundation was established by Lawrence Taylor and Janet Teller Dee in 1971 for the purpose of promoting charitable activities in Ogden and the surrounding area. It remains a family foundation dedicated to furthering the growth and well-being of the people of northern Utah. The availability of this program and number of scholarships offered may vary from year to year, depending on funding.  The student and mentor are recognized at the annual Undergraduate Research Awards Ceremony. Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters Scholarship (UASAL) Application Deadline

The Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters (UASAL) was founded in 1908 “to promote investigations and diffuse knowledge in all areas of science.” In 1933 UASAL expanded to include arts and letters and now supports scholarly work from fine arts to physics through our annual conference and peer-reviewed journal. This scholarship is open to any student at the University of Utah who is working on a research study with a faculty member with the intent to present original scholarly work at the Annual Conference of the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters. Each year, summer undergraduate research program coordinators from across campus offer a Grad School Mini Expo to our student participants.
