IAS Co-Thinking Session: We Need to Talk about AI

We will follow up with additional conversations specific to teaching and research in the future, and by collecting and sharing resources that…

Each walk is designed to encourage curiosity, conversation, and connection with the natural environment, making it enjoyable for all ages and experience levels.
Walks take place on the third Saturday of each month throughout the summer. We will do different trails each month and make decisions based on the folks who attend. ⚛️ Tri-campus STEM Accessibility Convos CoP
Information Technology
The STEM Accessibility Convos community of practice was started in 2025 by Darcy Jenzen (UW Tacoma Digital Learning), Mary-Colleen Jenkins (UW ATS) and Ana Thompson (UW Bothell IT ATC). Initially, it was a few informal conversations with Math, Sciences, Business and other faculty who use equations, formulas, LaTeX, etc. in their teaching. We used their input to create a Community of Practice for anyone at UW to join in Microsoft Teams and have a place for our discussions. We now meet monthly, on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Global Media Lab Film Screening with Professors Anida Yoeu Ali + Masahiro Sugano
School of IAS
Presented as part of the Alive Festival of Open Studios, students will screen a collection of short films developed in this intensive filmmaking and production course. Throughout the quarter, Global Media Lab (G‑Lab) students collaborate closely with two visiting artists: Nobuko Miyamoto (artist/activist) and Paul Richter (actor/director). Central to the course is an emphasis on “limitations as aesthetics,” encouraging students to transform constraints and challenges into generative conceptual frameworks.
Students enrolled in this course are not always art or media majors, but all share a strong interest in collaboration and pushing creative boundaries. Global Media Lab is offered every other year as a 10‑credit, hands‑on studio course. Year after year, G‑Lab students produce some of the most compelling and innovative visual work on the UWB campus.
2026 G-Lab Students: Maddy Bae, Braydon Burke, Vani Chhikara, Seble Daniel, Alison Escobar, Stephen Heins, Landon Howe, Sj Jama, Luis Javier, Alexis Kang, Logan…
