Ballyhoo Theatre Presents: Into the Woods

What happens after "happily ever after?" James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. Into the Woods is rated PG. Please go to ballyhootheatre.org for a parent guide. Type of Event: Black Box Theatre. Cost: $4.00 - $25.00. Friday, April 24, 2026, 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM. 20310 68th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

The Black Box Theatre Presents: Xanadu

In Greek legend, the Muses inspire artists of the mortal world. So when Clio, Muse of History, spies down-on-his-luck artist Sonny, she vows to help him create a 1980s artistic masterpiece: a roller disco. Clio’s plan is thwarted by her evil sisters who trick her into falling in love with Sonny, an unforgivable crime for Muses. How will Zeus punish the well-meaning couple? Based on the film of the same name, Xanadu puts a playful twist on Greek mythos, pairing it with disco fever and the outrageous style of the 1980s. With music by the Electric Light Orchestra and an unabashedly silly script, Xanadu is a tongue-and-cheek celebration of the absurdity of art and the joy of being human. Cost: $8.00 - $15.00. Contact Phone: (425) 640-1448. Contact Email: rachel.klem@edmonds.edu. Thursday, May 14, 2026, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM. 20310 68th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036, USA. For more info visit events.humanitix.com.

Dive Into the World of the Giant Pacific Octopus with Tim Carpenter

A closer look at Puget Sound’s largest octopus and its role as both predator and prey in our complex marine food web. The giant Pacific octopus is an iconic resident of the Salish Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. As the largest octopus species on Earth, it plays a critical role in coastal ecosystems - both as a top predator and as an important prey species for animals such as sea otters and orcas. In this talk, Tim Carpenter of the Seattle Aquarium, will explore the biology and ecology of the Giant Pacific Octopus in the Salish Sea, weaving together scientific insight with firsthand stories from his work as a veteran animal care professional and conservation biologist to bring these remarkable animals and their ecological role vividly to life. Type of Event: Black Box Theatre. Cost: Free. Thursday, May 21, 2026, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. 20310 68th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036. For more info visit friendsofsalishsea.org.
