Dr. Emma Spiro, Associate Professor, UW Information School; Director, Center for an Informed Public; UW Provost Academy Fellow
Academic researchers are increasingly faced with attacks on their character, credibility, and work. While the impacts and harm of these crises can feel acute and personal, they also pose longer term risks to academic institutions that contribute to the overall decline in trust in science and the academy, which in turn can feed back to embolden campaigns of harassment and harm. In this November Mentoring-for-leadership event, Dr. Emma Spiro will discuss experiences, support needs, and ideas for response in cases of targeted harassment and intimidation. This event is designed to build peer support networks on campus, share practices and resources for faculty, and inform institutional efforts for researcher support.
