Required Training for Faculty Search Committees: ADVANCE/NLP Fall Leadership Workshop (New Date)
Quarterly Leadership Workshop
As of July 1, the Office for Academic Personnel and Faculty instituted a new 90-minute required training for faculty search committees.
This required training for faculty search committees supports consistent, fair, and compliant hiring practices in faculty searches by equipping participants with practical strategies for promoting excellence in processes, assessment, confidentiality, and alignment with UW policies.
The Fall 2026 ADVANCE/NLP workshop will include a session of this new 90-minute required training, and attendees that participate in the full 90-minute training will receiving training certification. More details about this training and the new requirement can be found on the APF website.

Peer Coaching Kick Off 2026
Other Events
Peer coaching groups among the ADVANCE faculty are a great source of support, feedback, and advice. Groups typically include 6-8 faculty at a similar career stage (e.g. pre-tenure or post-tenure), each of whom are from a different department here at UW. The groups use a peer coaching model from the book Every Other Thursday.
ADVANCE will be holding peer coaching group info session to share details about the format, practice peer coaching, and engage in real time problem solving. After the kick off event, the peer coaching groups will be set up. Participants can still be placed in a group regardless of whether they attend the kick off event.
