The Mock Study Section enhances grant writing skills and understanding of the peer-review process as practiced by the National Institutes of Health. Participating junior and mid-career investigators (Grant Applicants) will get constructive feedback on HIV-related grant application drafts ahead of the May 7 NIH AIDS deadline. Conversation with Seye Abimbola

The Department of Global Health community is invited to a Conversation with Seye Abimbola: The Uses of Knowledge in Global Health. In conversation with Assistant Professor Ferdinand Mukumbang, Seye Abimbola will reflect on knowledge practices in global health with DGH students, staff, and faculty. This 30 minute conversation will be followed by a 30 minute Q&A period. Dr. Seye Abimbola is a health systems researcher from Nigeria. He is currently based at the University of Sydney in Australia, where he is an associate professor and principal research fellow. His teaching and research focus on knowledge practices in global health, health system governance, and the adoption and scale up of health system innovations. Undoing Unfair Knowledge Practices in Global Health with Seye Abimbola

Rachel Rutishauser, MD, PhD is an Infectious Disease physician-scientist and Associate Professor in the Division of Experimental Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. For her PhD, she studied the regulation of virus-specific CD8+ T cell differentiation in mice with Dr. Susan Kaech at Yale. At UCSF, she completed her post-doctoral studies with Drs. Mike McCune and Peter Hunt, and established her independent lab in November, 2020. The Rutishauser laboratory uses high-dimensional single cell profiling and functional genomics approaches to understand the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of HIV-specific CD8+ T cell exhaustion at the basic mechanistic level and in the context of HIV cure studies, including therapeutic vaccination and CAR-T cell therapy.
