From Insight to Action: Uplifting Youth-Led Public Health Projects
Young people face a variety of unique health challenges, from navigating complex health care systems to building resilience and personal connection in the social media age. Today, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH), through the work of its Youth Advisory Council (YAC), aims to bridge the divide between public health, health care providers, and the young people they serve through innovative programs and tools, shaped by youth perspectives and recommendations.
In the September 2026 session of Hot Topics in Practice, presenters Nicole Casanova, MPH, the Youth Engagement Coordinator at DOH, and Zara Holland, a Council Member of the YAC, will present examples of youth engagement initiatives with a focus on youth-designed resources. By viewing this webinar, participants will identify ways to bring actionable youth insights into their public health work.

Dr. Kemi Doll is a Professor, physician, surgeon, double board-certified Gynecologic Oncologist and OB/GYN, health equity scientist, and transformational coach whose work is reshaping what’s possible for Black women in academia, healthcare, and research.
