Boren Awards: UW Writing Workshop (Sign-up here)

Are you applying for a Boren Award to fund language study? Please join UW advisers for a workshop covering the application's essays. While we will go over the selection criteria and share award details, this is a working session and we'll have time carved out for applicants to work on their written materials. Remember: applicants must be studying a language for the duration of the Boren Award (list of preferred languages here; list of preferred fields of study here). FAO Schwarz Fellowship Information Session

Each year a new cohort of FAO Schwarz Fellows begins paid, two-year assignments with leading nonprofit organizations FAO Schwarz Fellows work at high-impact nonprofit organizations in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia. These organizations are all deeply valued in their communities and have a strong record of delivering consistent results and high-quality services. Host organizations vary from year to year—and all have a proven commitment to addressing critical issues of social inequity. Fellows deepen their knowledge and understanding of relevant social issues, work directly with host communities, and lead strategic projects that strengthen the host organization’s capacity and impact. In the info sessions, you’ll hear directly from current Fellows and Executive Director Priscilla Cohen. Learn how Fellows have used their experience to launch  careers in social impact. Drop-in to work on your applications and, if you wish, get personalized feedback on your materials from scholarship advisors in UW's Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships & Awards. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Scholarship program aids the United States in retaining its world leadership in technology and innovation by supporting the very best and brightest scholars in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while commemorating the legacy of America’s pioneering astronauts. The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation awards fifty scholarships valued up to $15,000 to each selected scholar. The ASF scholarship award is just the beginning for Astronaut Scholars, and their selection is the beginning of a life-long relationship with astronauts, alumni, and great leaders who span academia, technical research, and corporate leadership. Students must be nominated to compete for the Astronaut Scholarship. UW is authorized to nominate two candidates to the national competition, and we conduct an internal UW application and nominee selection process each winter.
