Goldwater Scholarship Information Session

The BARRY GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP is designed to attract outstanding students into research careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit to students who are sophomores or juniors during the current academic year and who have excellent academic records and demonstrated interest in and potential for research careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. The scholarship covers undergraduate eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board to a maximum of $7,500 per academic year. Undergraduate students committed to making a difference in their communities should attend this information session to learn more about different scholarships and opportunities that could support their goals. For example: The Harry S. Truman Scholarship supports graduate education and professional development of outstanding young people committed to public service leadership. The award amount is $30,000 to go toward graduate education. Read more about the Truman at www.truman.gov. The Morris and Stewart Udall Scholarship looks to support sophomore and junior level college students committed to careers related to the environment and/or tribal public policy leadership, or Native American health care. The Udall awards may be up to $7000. We will discuss additional scholarships beyond these two, like the Voyager Scholarship, Emerson Hunger Fellowships, Humanity in Action Fellowships, and the Samuel Huntington Public Service Award, among others. The Morris and Stewart Udall Scholarship looks to support sophomore and junior level college students committed to careers related to the environment and/or tribal public policy leadership, or Native American health care. The Udall scholarship honors the legacies of Morris Udall and Stewart Udall, whose careers had a significant impact on American Indian self-governance, health care, and the stewardship of public lands and natural resources. The Udall Scholarship awards undergraduate scholarships of up to $7000. Selected students must have strong commitment to improving or preserving the environment; or a strong commitment to Native American health care or tribal public policy and potential for significant future contribution in his or her chosen field.
