Navigating Reform: Reimagining leadership and development in the Republic of Georgia's maritime industry
Graduate Programs
Nino Turmanidze is a Barer Fellow and LLM candidate in the Sustainable International Development (SID) Graduate Program. She has previously served as a lawyer at the the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, where she led Georgia’s alignment with EU maritime law and represented the country in international fora. She has also co-founded an educational club empowering young women to contribute to Wikipedia and organized Georgia’s first International Women in Maritime Conference. Her work focuses on maritime governance, sustainable port development, digitalization, and gender equity. Nino is committed to advancing Georgia’s strategic role in Europe–Asia trade, particularly through the Anaklia Deep Seaport project, where she promotes legal frameworks that support environmental protection, green shipping, and digital transparency. She aims to shape Georgia’s maritime strategy and sustainable development by promoting inclusive, responsible, and transparent policy design.
