The play follows "Arlene" upon her release from prison, as she attempts to reintegrate into society. Having shed her rebellious past as "Arlie" her present struggle is juxtaposed with vivid flashbacks of her youth. The story alternates between "Arlie's" contentious relationships with prison officials and "Arlene's" difficult reality, which includes an indifferent mother, a predatory ex-guard, a pimp ex-boyfriend, and a sympathetic neighbor. The play grapples with themes of identity, self-acceptance, and the systemic issues that individuals continue to face every day that impact the trajectory of their lives.

First WA Lego League Robotics Competition
Shoreline College's STEM Division will be hosting two robotics competitions! The FIRST Washington FLL Shoreline Qualifiers will be held on Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14. Throughout the weekend there will be 56 teams of students in grades 4-8 competing, 75 volunteers making it happen including students from Shorewood High School's FRC robotics team, and over 300 families exploring Shoreline College campus with tours. Students will be presenting to judges in the morning, and competing in the afternoon in the robot game.

We’ll use the UW transfer personal statement prompt as an example, but we encourage you to bring prompts for any schools, scholarships, and/or programs you’re applying to!
No matter which stage of the writing process you are in for your personal statement draft, bring what you have to the workshop! That might look like: ideas, notes, or a rough draft.
Immediately after the workshop, there will be opportunities for you to have one-on-one appointments with our Writing Studio Tutors, who can help you with your ideas and drafts.
