Window Into Solitary Photography Exhibit

UW Tacoma School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences Window Into Solitary is a photography exhibition that documents the experiences of seventeen people from across the United States who have spent extensive amounts of time in solitary confinement. Through striking portraits and first-person testimony, it invites us to confront the human cost of isolation while honoring the resilience of those who endured it. Each image is paired with written reflections from participants about their time in solitary and their perspectives on its widespread use across the U.S. carceral system. Together, these stories create a rare window into an often hidden reality and issue an urgent call to end isolation. Produced by Look2Justice and Social Documentary Network/ZEKE Magazine. On view from February 9–20, 2026, in the Snoqualmie Powerhouse room, located inside the UW Tacoma Library. Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8am–8pm; Fridays 8am–5pm. Free and open to the public.
