Whatcha Watching?
THEY'RE BAAAACK!!! It's been a year MPL's Matt Mottl, Lisa Devins-Horohoe, and Tim Gadzinski got together online to discuss what's going on in the cinematic world during an episode of "Whatcha Watching." And what could be better than chatting about the recently aired Academy Awards—who and what took home an Oscar, who didn't, what should've won (in their humble opinions), and who got snubbed altogether! It'll be a post-mortem definitely worth watching! We hope that you'll be able to join them online on Thursday, March 19, from 6-7:30 PM. And as always, we encourage all those watching to join the discussion via the "Comments" box on their platform of choice. “Whatcha Watchin’” will livestream on both MPL’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manitowoclibrary) and YouTube channel. Let's talk movies!
Thursday, March 19, 2026, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM.
This Event Takes Place Exclusively Online.

Film and Panel Event: “From Rails to Trials”
Join the Friends of the Fox River Trail to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Our beloved Fox River trail was completed and opened in 2001 due in part to the Rails to Trails grassroots movement that transformed abandoned railroads into public trails for walking and cycling.

Facing fierce opposition and legal challenges from private property owners, leaders fought to reclaim these corridors for the public, creating a national network of scenic, car-free paths.
Following the documentary, a panel discussion will take place with local advocates, elected officials, and municipal staff members who were instrument…

Enter a world of romance, betrayal, and haunting beauty with The Royal Ballet – Giselle.

When the gentle peasant girl Giselle discovers that her beloved Albrecht is in fact a nobleman promised to another woman, her heartbreak proves fatal. In death, she joins the Wilis—vengeful spirits of brides betrayed before their wedding day—who are determined to dance any man they encounter to his death. Consumed by remorse, Albrecht visits Giselle’s grave, where he must confront the Wilis and the ghost of the woman he loved. Will forgiveness prevail, or will he be claimed by the spirits?

Tales from the Taproom 7: A StorySlam for Adults (21+) at PetSkull Brewing Company
There's always a healthy dose of springtime tomfoolery during April, so we figured that this month's installment of "Tales from the Taproom" should reflect that shenaniganing! Still no props, no notes, and only five minutes to tell a favorite story, but this month we're changing things up a bit.
The theme for this late-April event at PetSkull Brewing Company, sponsored by Seehafer News, from 6-8 PM on Thursday, April 30, is "Say WHAAAT?!?"
Because sometimes someone will say something that sounds perfectly plausible and it turns out to be an outrageous lie. Other times, someone will say something that sounds completely outrageous and it turns out to be the absolute truth. Join us for “Say WHAAAT?!?”—the seventh installment of “Tales from the Taproom,” Manitowoc Public Library’s & PetSkull Brewing Company's StorySlam series—and let your storytelling soar. Tell a true story that sounds like a lie or tell a lie that sounds like a truth. It doesn’t matter! Just be convincing!
