Tales from the Taproom: An Adults-Only (21+) StorySlam Evening at PetSkull Brewery
Community Events
"Tales from the Taproom" returns for another evening of revelations and fun at a microbrewery known for camaraderie and shenanigans. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that! Besides—Everyone has a story to tell! Why not tell yours? No props, no notes. Just five minutes and a true, personal favorite story. Time to tell your tale! The important thing to remember is that this is an evening of true storytelling—not stand-up comedy, not poetry, not a platform for political manifestos or lectures, or doing a reading from an as-of-yet published post-apocalyptic neo-tribal zombie/cyborg saga. It’s a true story zone.
And this time around, we're adding a special twist—we'll be moving things from the indoor taproom to the outdoor beer garden for an evening of open-air storytelling! Which, not surprisingly, leads directly to the theme for this evening at PetSkull Brewing Company sponsored by Seehafer Broadcasting from 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 17—"The Great Outdoors!" That's right, folks. We're leaving things f…

Meet the Author of Tick Town, Chris Micklos, at Caramel Crisp Bookstore
Community Events
In ‘Tick Town,’ filmmaker and UW-Oshkosh Alum Christopher Micklos brings his love of horror to the page!
Micklos was inspired to write a novel in the style of the pulpy horror flicks of the 70s and 80s and Ticks are the perfect Mid-western monster. Who among us hasn’t been grossed out by one of those creepy crawlies hitching a ride on our bodies after a walk in the Wisconsin woods.
What if those Ticks were – bigger? And deadlier? What if they were coming for us all?
As Micklos told Wisconsin Public Radio, “I wanted to make it big. I wanted to make it broad. I wanted to make it splattery. And, you know, I think it’s fun,” he said. “I describe the book as PG-13 — there isn’t harsh language, but there is a lot of blood. But I think it’s more cartoonish, absurdist blood and gore.”
On Thursday, September 18th, Chris will be on hand at Caramel Crisp Corner in Oshkosh to talk with readers about his new novel! Meet the author from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, ask questions about his ideas and process and score your very…

Paranormal Wisconsin—Tales of Ghosts, UFOs, and Mysterious Creatures with Chad Lewis
Community Events
This presentation—taking place in Manitowoc Public Library’s Balkansky Community Room from 6-7 PM on Thursday, September 18—is an eerie combination of the most bizarre paranormal topics. I have combined my strangest cases of alien abductions, haunted places, mysterious creatures, crop circles, and everything else weird and unusual. This program covers the entire spectrum of Wisconsin's supernatural activity. For over two decades, Chad Lewis has traveled the backroads of the world in search of the strange and unusual. Chad has been featured on the Discovery Channel’s A Haunting, William Shatner's Weird or What and The UnXplained, and ABC's Scariest Places on Earth, along with being a frequent contributor on Ripley's Believe it or Not Radio. With a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Chad has authored over twenty books in the strange and unusual. The more bizarre the legend, the more likely it is that you will find Chad there.
