Kites Over Lake Michigan

Community Events The 17th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan will once again be held at the Two Rivers High School. This is due to the high lake level that has left us with very little beach. We were fortunate, and very grateful, that the Two Rivers School Board allowed us to continue with the event at the high school again. There is a vast expanse of flying and viewing areas behind the school which is perfect for this. This location affords everyone the ability to see everything from where you are. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale at the concession stand. The local non-profit service clubs will once again be doing this. This is their biggest fund raiser for their respective clubs, with the monies raised going towards scholarships and community projects. Those who come will be treated to some amazing displays of beautiful giant show kites, precision stunt teams performing mesmerizing aerial ballet with their dual and quad line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays and activities for kids a… Saturday, September 3, 2022, 11:00 AM – Sunday, September 4, 2022, 4:00 PM. Intersectionality: Engaging Greater Conversations | A Virtual Community Conversation with Lakeshore’s United Visionaries

Community Events The National Conversation around identity grows in volume and scope; many underrepresented communities face difficult conversations with people who are unaware of issues impacting racial, ethnic, queer identities, or the intersection of identity. While these greater conversations can take a variety of forms, the importance of engaging our friends, family, and loved ones about how being other impacts lived experiences remains vital to understanding and seeing one another. For people who simultaneously hold multiple underrepresented identities, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to explore the layers of these conversations with others—especially those whose lived experiences are different. Please join Lakeshore’s United Visionaries and Manitowoc Public Library for this crucial community conversation on Thursday, September 15, from 6-8 PM on either MPL's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manitowoclibrary) or YouTube channel. As conversations grow, so follows understanding. Thursday, September 15, 2022, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. This Virtual Event Will Livestream on Both MPL's Facebook page and their YouTube channel.
