Book & a Movie/“The Scent of Rain & Lightning”

Old wounds revisited, the emergence of startling truths, and the hope for a better tomorrow. All of these things are explored in “The Scent of Rain & Lightning.” But, when you look at the graphics used to bring the two versions of the story to the public—the novel to the left, the film to the right—you’d be hard-pressed to believe that they’re promoting the same story. And yet, they are. So, with this disparity and all the other intrigue at play, one huge question remains—which version does a better job of telling the story: the book or the movie? You’ll have the opportunity to discuss this oft-debated point if you attend the return of Manitowoc Public Library’s “Book and a Movie” at Lakeshore Cinema on Monday, February 21, at 6:30 PM. Watch the movie and then participate in the discussion of the book versus the movie that follows. Books can be checked out prior to the screening at Manitowoc Public Library. Admission is FREE!!! Monday, February 21, 2022, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM. Lakeshore Cinema 1118 Washington Street Manitowoc, WI 54220. For more info visit manitowoclibrary.evanced.info.
