Overview
If your organization's event data is stored and maintained in another calendar application that provides calendar feeds in .ics or .csv, or .rss formats,
the Trumba® Calendar Connector can be used to automatically import the feed into a Trumba calendar.
Note Trumba supports .rss feeds in the format exported by Anthology Engage which include separate XML elements for event start, end, and location.
Generic RSS feeds are not supported because they do not include start or end date in a standard format.
Note Each Connector is linked to one Trumba calendar.
The number of Trumba Calendar Connectors allowed is based on the number of Trumba accounts associated with the master account. One Connector is allowed per Trumba account.
For example, if you have three Trumba accounts (one publisher and two editors), you can have up to three Connectors.
Contact Trumba Support if you would like to use one or more Connectors.
File types supported by the Trumba Calendar Connector
The Trumba Calendar Connector supports .csv,.ics, and .rss import formats.
The URL of a publicly accessible calendar feed is required for all file types. The feed can be password protected and can be pulled from an https or sftp site.
Trumba Support will work with you to map the fields in your feed to your Trumba calendar.
.csv files
- Fields in the source data can be mapped to Trumba custom fields. Fields not included in the feed can be defaulted to a specific value.
- A stable unique ID (UID) field is required.
- For repeating events, each occurrence must be imported as its own entry.
.ics files
- Custom fields must be defined in the X-TRUMBA-CUSTOMFIELD format (see Prepare iCal files for import for more information).
- Repeating events are supported by the standard RRULE property.
.rss files
- Trumba supports .rss feeds in the format exported by Anthology Engage which include separate XML elements for event start, end, and location.
- For repeating events, each occurrence must be imported as its own entry.
Things to note about using the Trumba Calendar Connector
- Trumba Support will set up the Connector. The Trumba Calendar Connector is not a self-serve feature.
- When importing an event image or detail image field, a URL to a publicly available image file can be included and the Connector will import the image from the URL.
Note Images are not reloaded from the URL on subsequent feeds so changes to the image at the original URL will not be loaded.
- When importing values into a list of choices custom field, imported values must exist in the Trumba field definition. Import values that do not match a value in the custom field definition will be ignored.
- Repeating events are supported in the .ics format via the standard RRULE property. For .csv and .rss imports, each occurrence of a repeating event must be imported as its own entry.
- Only Event data (no registration settings or custom object data) can be imported.
- Imported events should not be updated with in Trumba since changes will be overwritten with subsequent imports. Events added directly into Trumba should be entered on a separate calendar from the Connector-imported calendar.
