Gallup Park Butterly Garden Adopt-a-Park Workday

Kids and their caregivers will build a small fairy house, starting with a hand-painted door, then heading onto a wooded path to build the rest of the house out of clay and natural materials gathered along the way. Trick or Treat on the River

Parks and Recreation Help create one of Ann Arbor Parks’ most unique fall traditions! On Sunday, October 11, families will paddle around Gallup Pond on the Huron River, stopping at themed stations to collect treats from costumed volunteers. Whether you greet paddlers from the shoreline, help with activities on land, or provide flexible event support, you’ll help create a memorable Halloween adventure for children and families. The public event runs from 12:00–4:00 p.m. Choose Your Shift, Early Shift: 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Help welcome the first paddlers and support the first half of the event. Gardening at Bryant Community Center

Parks and Recreation Show some love to Bryant Community Center! Join the Ann Arbor Parks Volunteer Program for a gardening workday focused on caring for the planted areas around this important neighborhood space. Bryant Park and Community Center is located on the city’s south side and is home to the CAN Bryant Community Center. The park includes amenities such as a playground, walking trails, and a pavilion, making it a busy place for recreation, gathering, and community connection. During this event, volunteers will help weed garden beds, cut back shrubs, trim back grasses, and spread mulch. Weeds are taking over in some areas, and volunteers will help clear space so the beautiful plantings can continue to shine. This work helps keep the community center grounds cared for, welcoming, and easier to maintain throughout the summer season. Sustainability and Innovations Join our monthly A²ZERO clothing swaps on the third Thursday of each month! Swaps are an opportunity to refresh your wardrobe, without buying new. Swaps are also a chance to gift your gently used clothes to members of your community, without contributing to the 92 million tons of textile waste generated globally each year. These are completely free events. How it works: Each person can bring up to 10 items of clothing in good condition (no rips, holes, stains or unwashed items please!). Join the City of Ann Arbor’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations and the Ann Arbor Parks Volunteer Program for a volunteer workday focused on caring for Ward Park’s playground area. To keep the play area safe, we’ll be spreading a fresh layer of play-safe woodchips under and around the equipment using wheelbarrows, pitchforks, and rakes.
