Precepting with Pride is the foundational training that is required to be a preceptor at UCSD Health. The 4-hour course covers the UCSD preceptor program philosophy and preceptor roles and expectations. Concepts of adult learning are discussed along with individual preferred learning styles. Various teaching strategies with learning validation and teach-back are explored. Purposeful questioning is introduced and incorporated through role-playing to foster critical thinking in a preceptorship. Precepting with Pride is the foundational training that is required to be a preceptor at UCSD Health. The 4-hour course covers the UCSD preceptor program philosophy and preceptor roles and expectations. Concepts of adult learning are discussed along with individual preferred learning styles. Various teaching strategies with learning validation and teach-back are explored. Purposeful questioning is introduced and incorporated through role-playing to foster critical thinking in a preceptorship. Delivering actionable feedback is covered with scenario-based training integrated. Methods to evaluate oreintees are reviewed and tools for effective communication are provided. This course is intended for nurses new to ECG monitoring or nurses needing remediation to pass the UCSDH ECG exam. Managers: Register your New to Level of Care staff in monitored units for the class date closest to their hire date.

An introduction to Nursing Excellence at UCSDH for all newly hired nurses. During GNO, new nursing staff receive onboarding resources to orient them to Nursing Excellence at UC San Diego Health. We discuss the value of our nursing mission, vision, and motto and provide information on how these values are supported and advanced. We highlight team member perks, benefits, and recognition, as well as professional development programs available to our nurses. GNO is designed for newly hired inpatient and ambulatory nursing staff. If the position requires RN licensure, then attendance at GNO is mandatory.
