ONCC Free Take

UCSD is pleased to announce we have partnered with ONCC to offer employees the Free Take. When you sign-up and pay UCSD to take any certification exam offered by ONCC (through the EDR Calendar), you get two chances to take the test. If you don’t pass after two attempts, UCSD will refund you the cost of the exam. When you sign-up through UCSD, e-mail atavakoli@health.ucsd.edu with your receipt and you will receive a code to be used at checkout on the ONCC website. If you do not take the exam during your 90 day testing window, that counts as one chance. This course will focus on the complications that can arise in the hematopoietic stem cell transplant population including veno-occlusive disease, acute and chronic graft versus host disease, gastrointestinal, cardiac, neuro and dermatologic complications. This course will be a supplement to the ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate Course and provide hands-on skills as well as inpatient EPIC Beacon training.  This course will include an overview of UCSD’s policies and procedures for chemotherapy administration for cancer diagnosis and hazardous drug handling education. Oncology 101

This course will be an introduction to the basic principles of oncology including the prevention and development of cancer. Oncology symptom management will be discussed including the interventions the RN can implement to decrease symptoms in the oncology patient. The most common symptoms including fatigue, myelosuppression, peripheral neuropathy and a plethora of gastrointestinal side effects including nausea and vomiting, mucositis, and bowel changes will be covered as well as oncologic emergencies including structural and electrolyte imbalances. This course is beneficial to the nurse new to oncology or those wishing to learn more about caring for oncology patients. It makes a great foundation for the other oncology courses listed here. ICU/Cardiac Boot Camp Introduction to Hemodynamics

Introduction to Hemodynamics for Cardiac Boot Camp and ICU Boot Camp includes an introduction to basic hemodynamics with a focus on anatomy and physiology, the components of cardiac output, and pressure waveform management and interpretation. Additional lectures will include information on permanent and temporary cardiac pacemakers and vasoactive medications. There is 4-hours worth of required pre-work, including videos and reading materials for this class. Attendees will be invited to Microsoft Teams to access the pre-work items. Prior to attending the class, a Qualtrics quiz based on the pre-work will need to be completed. A score of 80% is required to pass. ICU/Cardiac Boot Camp Advanced Hemodynamics

Advanced Hemodynamics for Cardiac Boot Camp and ICU Boot Camp will review hemodynamic concepts, alterations in hemodynamics, interventions used to improve perfusion, and advanced monitoring techniques. Additional topics of education will include PA catheter waveform interpretation, pacemaker scenario review, and hemodynamic derangements after cardiac surgery. There is 3-hours worth of required pre-work, including videos and reading materials for this class. Attendees will be invited to Microsoft Teams to access the pre-work items. Lean Healthcare Basics (Level 2)
