TIC (Trauma-Informed Care) - Independent Study
Those that work in healthcare often think they are tough and can handle everything, but it's important to remember there are challenging part to the job that may start to carry over into their personal lives, knowingly or unknowingly. This can result in not wanting to care for patients and further be defined as compassion fatigue, burnout, or even depression which is common among all healthcare providers, especially after the past couple years during the pandemic. Patients and team members all come in with a unique pasts often consisting of adverse childhood events (ACEs) that play a role into how people, interactions, and events are processed. A new care delivery, trauma informed care, provides a more positive interaction for both patients and staff and is shown to reduce compassion fatigue and create resiliency. This is an education module that goes over information on trauma informed care and how to apply trauma informed care for our patients and staff.
